1. What Aleric Deslo Active is and what it is used for

What Aleric Deslo Active is
Aleric Deslo Active contains desloratadine, which is an antihistamine medicine.
How Aleric Deslo Active works
Aleric Deslo Active is an antiallergy medicine that does not cause drowsiness. It helps control allergic reactions and their symptoms.
When to use Aleric Deslo Active
Aleric Deslo Active relieves symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal mucosa caused by allergy, for example hay fever or allergy to house dust mites) in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older. Symptoms of this condition include: sneezing, itching or runny nose, itching of the palate, as well as itchy, red or watery eyes.
Aleric Deslo Active is also used to relieve symptoms associated with urticaria (a skin condition caused by allergy). Symptoms of this condition may include itching, redness or skin rash with wheals.
Relief of these symptoms lasts throughout the day, helping patients return to their normal daily activities and enabling normal sleep.

When not to use Aleric Deslo Active

if the patient is allergic to desloratadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6), or to loratadine.

Warnings and precautions
Before starting treatment with Aleric Deslo Active, consult your doctor or
pharmacist:

if the patient has kidney function disorders,
if the patient has a history or family history of seizures.

Children and adolescents
Do not use this medicine in children under 12 years of age.
Aleric Deslo Active and other medicines
No interactions with other medicines are known.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines the patient is currently taking or has recently taken, as well as any medicines the patient plans to take.
Taking Aleric Deslo Active with food, drink and alcohol
It is not necessary to take the medicine with water or other liquid. The medicine may be taken with or without food. Caution should be exercised when taking Aleric Deslo Active with alcohol.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, suspects she may be pregnant, or is planning to have a baby, she should consult a doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
Use of Aleric Deslo Active is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Fertility
There is no data available regarding effects on fertility.
Driving and operating machinery
This medicine, when used at the recommended dose, is not expected to affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. Although drowsiness does not occur in most people, it is recommended to refrain from activities requiring mental concentration, such as driving or operating machinery, until the individual's response to this medicine has been established.
Aleric Deslo Active contains aspartame
The medicine contains 3 mg of aspartame in a 5 mg dose of Aleric Deslo Active in the form of an orally disintegrating tablet. Aspartame is a source of phenylalanine. It may be harmful to people with phenylketonuria. This is a rare genetic disorder in which phenylalanine accumulates in the body due to impaired excretion.
The medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium per tablet, meaning the medicine is considered "sodium-free".

3. How to use Aleric Deslo Active

This medicine should always be taken exactly as described in this patient leaflet or as directed by
your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above
The recommended dose is one tablet once daily, taken with or without food.

Method of administration
This medicine is intended for oral administration.
Before use, the blister should be carefully opened by peeling it apart. Remove the orodispersible tablet without crushing it. Place the tablet in the mouth, where it will disintegrate immediately. Water or any other liquid is not required to swallow the dose. The dose should be taken immediately after removal from the blister.
Duration of treatment
Consult your doctor or pharmacist.
When starting treatment with desloratadine, treatment should not last longer than 10 days without
consulting a doctor.
If the patient has:

intermittent allergic rhinitis (symptoms occur for less than 4 days per week or for less than 4 weeks),
persistent allergic rhinitis (symptoms occur for 4 or more days per week and for more than 4 weeks),
urticaria (duration of treatment may vary among individual patients),
the doctor or pharmacist will determine the duration of treatment with Aleric Deslo Active, taking into account the type, duration, and course of symptoms.

If there is no improvement after 3 days of treatment with Aleric Deslo Active, or if the patient feels worse, consult a doctor.
In case of breathing difficulties or swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat, seek immediate medical attention.
Taking more than the recommended dose of Aleric Deslo Active
Aleric Deslo Active should be taken in accordance with the instructions provided in the leaflet.
Severe adverse effects are not expected after accidental overdose. However, if a dose higher than recommended is taken, inform your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse immediately.
Missing a dose of Aleric Deslo Active
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible, then return to the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Stopping Aleric Deslo Active
If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

4. Possible adverse reactions

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause adverse reactions, although not everyone experiences them.
Since desloratadine has been marketed, very rare cases of severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, wheezing, itching, hives, and swelling) have been reported. If any of these severe adverse reactions occur, you must stop taking the medicine and consult a doctor immediately.

In clinical studies in adult patients, adverse reactions were almost the same as those observed after administration of a placebo tablet (a tablet without active ingredient). However, fatigue, dry mouth, and headache were reported more frequently than with the placebo tablet. In adolescents, the most commonly reported adverse reaction was headache.
The following adverse reactions have been reported in clinical studies with desloratadine:

dizziness ● drowsiness ● insomnia
muscle pain ● hallucinations ● seizures
restlessness with increased motor activity ● hepatitis ● abnormal liver function test results

increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight, even on cloudy days, and to UV (ultraviolet) radiation, for example UV radiation in sunbeds

low mood
dry eyes

5. How to store Aleric Deslo Active

Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and blister pack following
EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of the stated month.
No special storage conditions required.
Medicines must not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist
how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help protect
the environment.

6. Contents of the pack and other information

What Aleric Deslo Active contains

The active substance is desloratadine 5 mg.
The other ingredients are: potassium polyacrylate, citric acid monohydrate, iron oxide red (E 172), magnesium stearate, sodium croscarmellose, Tutti Frutti flavour (also containing propylene glycol), aspartame (E 951), microcrystalline cellulose, spray-dried mannitol, and potassium hydroxide (for pH adjustment).

What Aleric Deslo Active looks like and contents of the pack
Aleric Deslo Active 5 mg orodispersible tablets are brick-red, round, flat tablets with bevelled edges and an embossed "5" on one side.
The medicine is packed in packaging containing 5, 6 or 10 orodispersible tablets.
