1. What Omeprazolo Mylan Pharma is and what it is used for
Omeprazolo Mylan Pharma contains the active substance omeprazole. It belongs to a group of medicines called 'proton pump inhibitors', which work by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach.
Omeprazolo Mylan Pharma is used to treat the following conditions:
In adults:
- 'Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease' (GERD). This condition occurs when acid leaks out of the stomach and passes into the oesophagus (the tube connecting the throat to the stomach), causing pain, inflammation, and heartburn.
- Ulcers in the upper part of the intestine (duodenal ulcer) or in the stomach (gastric ulcer).
- Ulcers infected with a bacterium called 'Helicobacter pylori'. If you suffer from this condition, your doctor may also prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection and allow the ulcer to heal.
- Ulcers caused by medicines called NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs). Omeprazolo Mylan Pharma may also be used to prevent the formation of ulcers if you are taking NSAIDs.
- Excessive production of stomach acid caused by a growth of tissue in the pancreas (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome).
Children over 1 year of age and weighing more than or equal to 10 kg:
- 'Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease' (GERD). This condition occurs when acid leaks out of the stomach and passes into the oesophagus (the tube connecting the throat to the stomach), causing pain, inflammation, and heartburn. In children, symptoms of this condition may also include regurgitation of stomach contents back into the mouth, vomiting, and poor weight gain.
Children over 4 years of age and adolescents:
- Ulcers infected with a bacterium called 'Helicobacter pylori'. If your child suffers from this condition, the doctor may also prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection and allow the ulcer to heal.
2. What you need to know before taking Omeprazolo Mylan Pharma
Do not take Omeprazolo Mylan Pharma
- If you are allergic to omeprazole or to any of the excipients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- If you are allergic to medicines containing other proton pump inhibitors (for example, pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole);
- If you are taking a medicine containing nelfinavir (used for HIV infections).
If you have any doubts, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Omeprazolo Mylan Pharma.

- Unintentional weight loss and difficulty swallowing;
