1. What Bisoprololo Aurobindo Pharma Italia is and what it is used for
Bisoprololo Aurobindo Pharma Italia contains bisoprolol fumarate, which belongs to a class of
medicines called beta-blockers.
Bisoprololo Aurobindo Pharma Italia is used to treat:
- stable heart failure. Bisoprolol is given as an additional treatment to other medicines for heart failure.
Heart failure occurs when the heart muscle is too weak to pump blood adequately throughout the body. This results in breathlessness and swelling. Bisoprolol slows down the heart rate and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body.
2. What you should know before taking Bisoprolol Aurobindo Pharma Italia
DO NOT take Bisoprolol Aurobindo Pharma Italia if:
- you are allergic to the active substance or to any of the excipients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- you have severe asthma or a severe chronic lung disease.
- you have a slow or irregular heartbeat. Ask your doctor if you are unsure.
- you have very low blood pressure.
- you have serious circulation problems (which may cause tingling in the fingers and toes or make them pale or bluish).
- you suffer from heart failure that suddenly worsens and/or may require hospital treatment.
- you have a condition of excessive acid buildup in the body known as metabolic acidosis.
- you have untreated phaeochromocytoma, a rare tumour of the adrenal gland.
Inform your doctor if you are uncertain about any of the above conditions: your doctor will be able to advise you.
Warnings and precautions
Inform your doctor or pharmacist before taking Bisoprolol Aurobindo Pharma Italia if:
- you have asthma or a chronic lung disease.
- you have diabetes. Bisoprolol may mask the symptoms of hypoglycaemia.
- you are not eating solid food.
- you are being treated for hypersensitivity reactions (allergies). Bisoprolol may worsen your allergy or make it more difficult to treat.
- you have heart problems.
- you have liver or kidney problems.
- you have circulation problems in the limbs.
- you are about to undergo general anaesthesia during surgery – inform your doctor that you are taking bisoprolol.
- you are taking verapamil or diltiazem, medicines used to treat heart conditions. Concomitant use is not recommended; see also section “Other medicines and Bisoprolol Aurobindo Pharma Italia”.
- you suffer from (or have suffered from) psoriasis (a recurring skin rash).
- you have phaeochromocytoma (a tumour of the adrenal gland). Your doctor must treat this condition before prescribing bisoprolol to you.
- you have thyroid problems. The tablets may mask symptoms of an overactive thyroid.
If any of the above warnings apply to you or have applied to you in the past, consult your doctor.
Other medicines and Bisoprolol Aurobindo Pharma Italia
