1. What Vicks Inhalant is and what it is used for
Vicks Inhalant contains menthol and camphor, which have antiseptic and decongestant properties for the respiratory tract and help relieve nasal congestion.
Vicks Inhalant is indicated for the treatment of colds and nasal mucosal congestion.
Consult your doctor if you do not feel better or feel worse after 3 days.
2. What you need to know before using Vicks Inhalant
Do not use Vicks Inhalant
- if you are allergic to menthol, camphor, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- in children under 30 months of age;
- in children who have or have had epilepsy or febrile seizures;
- during breastfeeding (see section Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Vicks Inhalant.
Take particular care:
- Do not extend treatment beyond 3 days due to the risks associated with the accumulation of terpene derivatives (e.g. camphor, cineole, niaouli, wild thyme, terpineol, terpinene, citral, menthol, and essential oils of pine needles, eucalyptus, and turpentine) in the body, including the brain, and particularly due to the risk of neuropsychological disturbances.
- Do not use this medicine for prolonged periods, as it may cause allergic reactions. If this occurs, stop treatment and contact your doctor.
- The product is flammable; keep away from open flames.
- Avoid contact with the eyes.
The nasal stick must not be used by more than one person.
Children
Vicks Inhalant must not be used in children under 30 months of age and is not recommended in children under 6 years of age. This medicine contains camphor and menthol which, in excessive doses, may cause neurological disorders such as seizures in newborns and children.
Other medicines and Vicks Inhalant
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.
Do not use Vicks Inhalant if you are also using other products (medicinal or cosmetic) containing terpene derivatives (e.g. camphor, cineole, niaouli, wild thyme, terpineol, terpinene, citral, menthol, and essential oils of pine needles, eucalyptus, and turpentine), regardless of the route of administration (oral, rectal, cutaneous, nasal, or inhalation).
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, are planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
The use of this medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or in women of childbearing potential who are not using contraceptive measures.
Do not use this medicine if you are breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines
No effects on the ability to drive or operate machinery have been observed.
3. How to use Vicks Inhalant
Use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Use in Adults and Children over 6 Years of Age
Unscrew the cap and insert the tip of the nasal stick into one nostril, closing the other with a finger, then inhale deeply. Apply in each nostril several times a day.
Do not exceed three days of treatment. If you do not obtain noticeable improvement after this period, consult your doctor.
If you use more Vicks Inhalant than you should
The possible harmful effects of excessive doses of this medicine are unknown.
In case of accidental oral ingestion or incorrect use of the medicine, consult your doctor.
Accidental ingestion or incorrect administration in newborns and children may cause neurological disorders.
If you have any doubts about the use of this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Very rarely, cases of nasal discomfort or pain have been reported.

5. How to store Vicks Inhalant
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging after "Exp.". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the package and other information
What Vicks Inalante contains
- The active substances are menthol and camphor. One nasal stick, containing 1 ml of medicinal solution, contains 415.4 mg of menthol and 415.4 mg of camphor.
- The other components are Siberian pine essential oil and methyl salicylate.
