1. What METILE SALICILATO NOVA ARGENTIA is and what it is used for
METILE SALICILATO NOVA ARGENTIA contains the active substance methyl salicylate, which belongs to a group of topical medicines used for joint and muscle pain, preparations based on derivatives of salicylic acid.
This medicine is indicated for short-term treatment of joint or muscle pain (bruises, sprains, muscle strains, lumbago).
Consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a short period of treatment (3–5 days).
2. What you need to know before using METILE SALICILATO NOVA ARGENTIA
Do not use METILE SALICILATO NOVA ARGENTIA
- if you are allergic to methyl salicylate, to similar medicines (salicylates), or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using METILE SALICILATO NOVA ARGENTIA.
DO NOT apply the medicine to irritated skin, sensitive areas, or on wounds and lesions. Also avoid contact
of the medicine with mucous membranes.
Avoid prolonged use of this medicine, as it may lead to sensitization (allergic reactions or other skin reactions). In such cases, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor.
Other medicines and METILE SALICILATO NOVA ARGENTIA
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are currently using, have recently used, or might use any other
medicines.
No interactions with other medicines are known.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
Do not use this medicine during pregnancy unless strictly necessary and under close medical supervision.
Driving and using machines
This medicine does not affect or affects negligibly the ability to drive and use machinery.
3. How to use METILE SALICILATO NOVA ARGENTIA
Use this medicine exactly as stated in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Apply the medicine 2 or 3 times a day. For each application, gently massage approximately 3–5 g of the medicine (1–2 cm of ointment) into the affected area.
Do not exceed the recommended doses; do not use more than 20 grams of ointment within 24 hours.
The duration of treatment should be as short as possible. If you do not notice improvement within a short period (3–5 days), consult your doctor.
If you use more METILE SALICILATO NOVA ARGENTIA than you should
In case of accidental ingestion of an excessive amount of METILE SALICILATO NOVA ARGENTIA, contact your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital.
Cases of overdose with topically applied methyl salicylate have not been reported. However, ingestion—even of small amounts of methyl salicylate—may cause signs and symptoms of toxicity, which may be severe and even fatal, especially in children.

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them.
The following side effects may occur.

- skin irritation (rash and contact dermatitis);
- allergic skin reactions.

5. How to store METILE SALICILATO NOVA ARGENTIA
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the packaging after "Exp".
The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Store in the original container tightly closed, protected from light and heat.
After first opening of the container, the medicine should be used within 30 days. After this period, any remaining medicine must be discarded.
Do not dispose of any medicine via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help protect the environment.

What METILE SALICILATO NOVA ARGENTIA 100 mg/g ointment contains
- The active substance is methyl salicylate. 1 g of ointment contains 100 mg of methyl salicylate.
- The other component is: white vaseline.
