INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT ZHYVOKOST ARTOLIA
Composition:
Active substances: 1 g of ointment contains:
- Symphyti tincture (1:10), extractant – 40% ethanol – 100 mg;
- Vitamin E, oily solution 98% (recalculated to 100% vitamin E content) – 10 mg.
Excipients: white soft paraffin, olive oil, glycerol, emulsifier T-2, methylparahydroxybenzoate (E 218), flavouring agent 482.056, purified water.
Pharmaceutical form. Ointment.
Main physicochemical properties: ointment ranging from creamy to light brown in colour with a characteristic odour.
Pharmacotherapeutic group. Topical preparations used for joint and muscular pain. ATC code M02AX.
Pharmacological Properties
Pharmacodynamics.
The effect of the drug is determined by its components: allantoin, mucilage, and tannins. The tannins of comfrey accelerate wound healing and ulcer healing processes; allantoin stimulates bone tissue growth, epithelial regeneration, reduces pain sensations, and exerts hemostatic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Clinical characteristics.
Indications.
Rheumatic pain, neuralgia, sciatica, lumbago, radiculitis, myalgia, arthralgia, osteochondrosis, arthritis; sports and domestic injuries (bruises, tendon strains, closed bone fractures). Dry and cracked skin; slow-healing wounds; trophic ulcers.
Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

Special precautions for use
To avoid the occurrence of adverse effects, a small amount of the ointment should be applied to the skin in advance to determine individual sensitivity. Do not apply to skin areas showing allergic reactions, mucous membranes, or open wounds. Avoid contact of the ointment with eyes.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
Do not use the medicinal product during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Ability to influence reaction rate when driving or operating machinery

Method of administration and dosage.
Depending on the size of the affected area, apply the ointment in a thick layer and thoroughly rub into the skin 2–3 times daily. At night, the ointment may be applied under a dressing. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease and the nature of concomitant therapy, and is determined individually by the physician, but should not exceed 4–6 weeks per year.
Children.
The use of the drug in children and adolescents under 18 years of age is contraindicated.
Overdose.
Overdose may lead to an intensification of adverse reactions. If allergic symptoms occur, discontinue the drug and wash off any residue from the skin. Symptomatic therapy should be administered.
Side effects.
Possible hypersensitivity reactions (including itching, swelling, rash).
Shelf life.
4 years. Do not use the medicinal product after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
Storage conditions. Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 ºC, in a light-protected and child-inaccessible place.
