INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT VINYLIN® (Shostakovsky's Balm)

Composition:

Active substance: polyvinylbutyl ether.

1 g of Vinylin® (Shostakovsky's Balm) contains 1 g of polyvinylbutyl ether.

Pharmaceutical form. Topical liquid.

Main physicochemical properties: viscous, sticky liquid ranging from light yellow to brownish-yellow in color, with a specific odor. Does not thicken or dry in air. Easily soluble in propanol and toluene, practically insoluble in water and 96% ethyl alcohol. Miscible in all proportions with ethyl ether, chloroform, oils, and liquid paraffin.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

Vinilin® (Shostakovsky's Balm) has antimicrobial action and promotes wound cleansing, tissue regeneration, and epithelialization.

Pharmacokinetics.

The antiseptic effect is due to the drug's ability to dehydrate microbial cells, causing protein coagulation and subsequent death of microbial cells. As a result of the healing process, necrotic foci are replaced by specific and/or connective tissue (which has the highest regenerative potential).

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

For furuncles, carbuncles, trophic ulcers, purulent wounds, soft tissue injuries, burns, frostbite, dermatitis, and inflammatory skin diseases.

Contraindications.

Individual hypersensitivity to the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interactions.

Instructions for use.

The product can be used as a 20% oil solution, including in combination with other medicinal products compatible with Vinilin® (ointments based on petroleum jelly and other bases, pastes, and creams).

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

There is no information regarding the use of the medicinal product during pregnancy or breastfeeding; therefore, its use is not recommended.

Ability to influence reaction rate when driving or operating machinery.

There are no data on the negative effect of the medicinal product on the ability to drive or operate moving mechanical devices.

Method of Administration and Dosage.

Used for soaking dressings and direct application to the affected area, either undiluted or as a 20% solution in peach or other vegetable oils, as well as in ointments. Frequency of application – 3–5 times daily.

The treatment duration is determined individually by the physician.

Children.

There is no information regarding the use of the drug in children; therefore, the use of the drug is not recommended.

Overdose.

Symptoms of overdose have not been described.

Side effects.

Very rare − individual hypersensitivity to the drug: allergic reactions, mainly of local nature, are possible.
