INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT ROSE HIP FRUITS (Rosae fructus)

Composition:

Active substance: rose hip fruits (Rosae fructus);

One pack contains 100 g or 150 g of rose hip fruits (Rosae fructus).

Pharmaceutical form. Fruits.

Main physicochemical properties: whole, cleaned from sepals and stalks, false fruits of various shapes: from spherical, egg-shaped, or oval to strongly elongated spindle-shaped; fruit length from 0.7 cm to 3 cm, diameter from 0.6 cm to 1.7 cm. At the apex of the fruit there is a small round opening or a pentagonal area. The fruits consist of fleshy, juicy receptacle (hypanthium) when ruptured, and numerous small nutlets located within its cavity. The walls of dried fruits are hard and brittle, outer surface shiny, less commonly dull, more or less wrinkled. Internally, the fruits are densely lined with long, very stiff, bristle-like hairs. Nutlets are small, elongated, with poorly defined edges.

Color of fruits ranges from orange-red to reddish-brown; nutlets are light yellow, sometimes brownish. Odor is absent. Taste is sour-sweet, slightly astringent.

Pharmacological properties.

The biologically active substances of the fruits exert an anti-sclerotic and anti-inflammatory effect; they activate enzymatic systems and redox processes in the body, help eliminate vitamin C deficiency, normalize carbohydrate metabolism, enhance hormone synthesis and tissue regeneration, increase the body's resistance to adverse environmental factors, stimulate bile secretion, increase diuresis, and reduce capillary fragility and permeability.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

A general tonic agent in acute and chronic infections, dystrophy, and physical exertion. Hemorrhagic diatheses; bleeding of various etiologies, anticoagulant overdose; acute and chronic liver diseases (chronic hepatitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis); kidney and urinary bladder disorders (nephritis, nephropathies in pregnant women) – as part of complex therapy.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the biologically active components of the drug. Thrombophlebitis and predisposition to it, circulatory insufficiency, endocarditis, decompensated diabetes mellitus, severe kidney diseases, cholelithiasis.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions.

Unknown.

Special precautions for use.

After using the decoction, it is recommended to rinse the mouth with warm water or a weak soda solution to prevent damage to tooth enamel.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

The safety and efficacy of the drug during pregnancy or breastfeeding have not been studied. Therefore, rosehip preparations may be used only after consulting a physician, when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant.

Effect on the ability to drive or operate machinery.

Method of administration and dosage.

Place 1 tablespoon of fruits into an enameled container, pour 200 mL of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45–60 minutes, strain, and squeeze the residue into the strained decoction. Adjust the volume of the decoction with boiled water to 200 mL. Take warm, twice daily after meals: adults and children aged 14 years and older – ½ cup, children aged 10–14 years – 1/3 cup, 7–10 years – 2 tablespoons, 3–7 years – 1 tablespoon, 1–3 years – 1 dessert spoon. Shake the decoction before use.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician, taking into account the nature, severity, and specific course of the disease, stability of the achieved therapeutic effect, and drug tolerability.

Children.

The drug may be used in children aged 1 year and older.

Overdose.

Symptoms: occurrence or exacerbation of allergic reactions.

Treatment: symptomatic therapy.

Adverse reactions.

Possible development of allergic reactions (including hyperemia, rash, itching, skin edema).

Shelf life. 2 years.

Storage conditions.

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
