INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT MOTHERWORT HERB (LEONURIHERBA)

Composition:

Active substance: motherwort herb (Leonuriherba).

Pharmaceutical form. Herb.

Main physico-chemical properties:

Crude material, powdered: fragments of stems, leaves, inflorescences of various shapes. Stem color – grayish-green, brownish-green; leaves – from green to grayish-green; sepals – green; corollas – dark pink or pinkish-violet.

Coarse powder: fragments of stems, leaves, inflorescences of various shapes, green, grayish-green, brownish-green, dark green in color, with dark pink or pinkish-violet specks.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Sedatives and hypnotics. ATC code N05CM.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

Biologically active substances of the medicinal product have pronounced sedative, spasmolytic, hypotensive, and cardiotoxic properties; they slow heart rate, increase the force of cardiac contractions, while simultaneously reducing the myocardium's oxygen demand.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Mild arterial hypertension; excessive nervous excitability; neuroses and neurosis-like conditions (as part of complex therapy).

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug. Arterial hypotension, bradycardia.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction. When used simultaneously, may enhance the effects of ethanol, sedatives or hypnotics, cardiac glycosides, analgesics, and antihypertensive drugs.

Special precautions.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Should be used after consultation with a physician who will assess the benefit/risk ratio for the fetus/child.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery. This medicinal product should be used with caution when driving or operating machinery due to the possible occurrence of drowsiness or dizziness.

Method of administration and dosage.

Place 2 tablespoons of the herb in an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and heat on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue, and add the expressed liquid to the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion with boiled water to 200 ml. Administer warm, 3–4 times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – 2 tablespoons; for children aged 10–14 years – 1 tablespoon; for children aged 5–10 years – 1 dessert spoon. Shake the infusion before use.

Place 2 filter packets into a glass or enameled container, pour 100 ml of boiling water, cover, and let steep for 15–20 minutes. Administer warm, 3–4 times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – 2 tablespoons; for children aged 10–14 years – 1 tablespoon; for children aged 5–10 years – 1 dessert spoon.

Store the prepared infusion in a cool place (8–15 °C) for no more than 2 days.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children. This medicinal product may be used in children aged 5 years and older, under medical prescription.

Overdose. In case of overdose, symptoms such as increased fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, and decreased arterial blood pressure may occur. Treatment is symptomatic.

Adverse reactions.

Allergic reactions (including hyperemia, rash, itching, skin swelling), gastrointestinal disturbances, increased fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness may occur. If any adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the medicinal product and consult a physician.

Shelf life. 3 years.

Do not use the medicinal product after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions. In the original packaging, in a place inaccessible to children, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C.

Packaging. Crude drug material: 50 g in packs with an inner pouch.

Coarse powder: 1.5 g or 2.0 g in filter bags; 20 filter bags per pack with an inner pouch;

1.5 g or 2.0 g in filter bags; 20 filter bags per pack.

Availability category. Over-the-counter (without prescription).
