INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT TAIMUROVA PASTE
Composition:
Active substances: 1 g of paste contains: boric acid – 0.07 g; sodium tetraborate – 0.07 g; salicylic acid – 0.014 g; zinc oxide – 0.25 g; hexamethylenetetramine – 0.035 g; formaldehyde solution – 0.035 g; lead acetate – 0.003 g; peppermint oil – 0.003 g;
Excipients: purified water, emulsifier No. 1, talc, glycerin.
Pharmaceutical form. Paste.
Main physicochemical properties: homogeneous white mass or with a slightly grayish tint, pleasant odor. During storage, exudation of liquid on the surface of the preparation may occur.
Pharmacotherapeutic group.
Dermatological agents. ATC code D11A A.
Pharmacological properties.
Pharmacodynamics. The properties of the medicinal product are determined by the active components contained in its composition. Boric acid and sodium tetraborate exert an antiseptic effect; salicylic acid exerts antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and keratoplastic effects; zinc oxide and lead acetate exert adsorptive, antimicrobial and astringent effects; hexamethylenetetramine and formaldehyde exert disinfectant, antimicrobial, antifungal and deodorizing effects; menthol (contained in peppermint oil) exerts cooling and vasodilating effects.
Pharmacokinetics. Not studied.
Clinical characteristics.
Indications.
Athlete's foot (tinea pedis), hyperhidrosis, intertrigo, excessive sweating.
Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug, chronic kidney diseases, acute inflammatory skin disorders and adjacent tissues, skin integrity damage at the application site, spasmophilia, bronchial asthma.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.
When used simultaneously with topical medicinal products, new compounds with unpredictable effects may form.
Since salicylic acid is a component of the drug, Tyumirov's Paste should not be combined with oral administration of drugs containing acetylsalicylic acid and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents. Do not use concurrently with benzoyl peroxide and topical retinoids.
Salicylic acid may enhance skin permeability for other topical medicinal products, thereby increasing their systemic absorption. In addition, salicylic acid may potentiate the adverse effects of methotrexate and the hypoglycemic effect of oral antidiabetic agents — sulfonylurea derivatives.
If simultaneous use with any other medicinal products is necessary, consult a physician.
Special precautions for use.
Teymurov's paste should not be applied to large areas of the body, open wounds, hairy parts of the head, or in case of inflammatory skin diseases. Avoid contact of the preparation with eyes and mucous membranes. In case of accidental contact with eyes, remove the paste with a gauze swab and thoroughly rinse eyes with warm water.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
The medicinal product is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Data on the use of Teymurov's Paste during pregnancy are lacking or limited.
It is unknown whether systemic exposure to Teymurov's Paste achieved after topical application could be harmful to the embryo/fetus.
During the third trimester of pregnancy, systemic use of prostaglandin synthetase inhibitors may cause cardiopulmonary and renal toxicity in the fetus; at the end of pregnancy, prolonged bleeding may occur in both mother and child, and labor may be prolonged.
Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery.
The product does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery.
Method of Administration and Dosage
The medicinal product is intended for external use. Affected skin areas in adults and children aged 14 years and older should be treated 2–3 times daily by applying the paste in a thin layer. Application of the drug to large skin areas is not recommended. The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician and depends on the therapeutic effect achieved and the course of the disease.
Children
Do not use in children under 14 years of age.
Overdose
With prolonged use of the drug on large skin areas, symptoms of overdose may occur: headache, nausea, vomiting, confusion, diarrhea, and skin rashes. In such cases, the drug should be discontinued and detoxification and symptomatic therapy should be administered.
Side effects
Possible side effects include headache, nausea, and in severe cases – vomiting, confusion, dizziness, tinnitus, epigastric pain, acidosis, rapid breathing, diarrhea, oliguria; when applied to large areas of skin, renal failure may develop. Local reactions: irritation, pain, burning sensation, dryness of the skin. Allergic reactions are possible, including skin redness, rash, itching, urticaria, skin peeling, contact dermatitis, anaphylactic reactions, including shock and angioneurotic edema.
If any adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the medicinal product immediately and consult a physician without delay.
Shelf life. 1 year 6 months.
Storage conditions.
Store in the original packaging at a temperature between 2 °C and 8 °C.
Keep out of reach of children.
