Pharmacological properties.
Pharmacodynamics.
Hyaluronic acid and other proteoglycan molecules stabilize the intercellular substance of connective tissue. Zinc ions inhibit the activity of P. acnes lipase and also possess antibacterial properties. Curiosin gel reduces acne formation and the severity of the inflammatory process. Topical application of Curiosin gel supplements the increased demand for hyaluronic acid in tissues.
Hyaluronic acid, together with water molecules, forms a dispersion matrix that fills tissue defects, provides a natural support for cells, enhances granulocyte and macrophage activity, and stimulates fibroblast proliferation and angiogenesis. Zinc hyaluronate, compared to sodium hyaluronate, exhibits bacteriostatic activity against a range of microorganisms.
Pharmacokinetics.
Data on the pharmacokinetics of exogenous hyaluronic acid are insufficient.
According to scientific literature, the concentration of hyaluronic acid in healthy volunteers ranges from 10 to 100 mcg/L. Elevated plasma levels of hyaluronic acid have been observed in healthy (study) subjects of advanced age and in the morning in individuals with impaired liver function. Hyaluronic acid is rapidly eliminated from blood plasma; degradation into low-molecular-weight components occurs in the liver. After intravenous administration, the elimination half-life (t½) is 2.5–5.5 minutes. Hyaluronic acid is almost not excreted in urine (1%). Based on data from 22 healthy volunteers, the clearance of hyaluronic acid is 320 mcg over 24 hours.
