I N S T R U C T I O N for medical use of the medicinal product CORN SILKS WITH STIGMAS (ZEAE MAYDIS STYLI CUM STIGMATIS)
Composition:
Active substance: corn silks with stigmas (Zea maydis styli cum stigmatis);
One pack contains: corn silks with stigmas (Zea maydis styli cum stigmatis) 40 g or 50 g.
Pharmaceutical form. Silks with stigmas.
Main physicochemical properties: filamentous fragments of brown, brown-red, light-yellow color.
Pharmacotherapeutic group. Agents used in biliary pathology.

Pharmacological Properties.
Pharmacodynamics.
The biologically active substances of the drug exert choleretic, diuretic (increase urine output by 150–160%), hemostatic, and hypoglycemic effects; they enhance bile secretion, reduce its viscosity, decrease bilirubin levels, increase blood prothrombin levels and accelerate blood clotting, and promote the urinary excretion of urates, oxalates, and phosphates.
Clinical characteristics.
Indications.
Cholecystitis, cholangitis, hepatitis with impaired bile secretion; cystitis, urolithiasis, edema; hemorrhagic diatheses, bleeding caused by decreased prothrombin levels (as part of complex therapy).
Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity to biologically active substances of the drug. Increased blood coagulation, elevated prothrombin index, thrombophlebitis, cholelithiasis with presence of stones larger than 10 mm in diameter, obstructive jaundice, anorexia.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction. Unknown.
Usage features.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. On a physician's prescription, when the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/infant.
Ability to affect reaction rate when driving or operating machinery. Has no effect.
Method of administration and dosage.
Place 3 tablespoons of the stalks with receptacles into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and steep in a water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then strain, squeezing the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water.
Take warm every 3–4 hours: adults and children aged 14 years and older – 1–3 tablespoons; children aged 10–14 years – 1 tablespoon; aged 7–10 years – 1 dessert spoon; aged 3–7 years – 1 teaspoon. Shake the infusion before use.
Store the prepared infusion at 8–15°C for no more than 2 days.
The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician for each patient.
Children. The drug is indicated for children aged 3 years and older.
Overdose. No cases reported.
Side effects.
Allergic reactions are possible (including redness, rash, rhinitis).
Shelf life. 3 years.
Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, in a place inaccessible to children.
Packaging. 40 g or 50 g per carton with an inner pouch.
