INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT FIELD HORSETAIL HERB (EQUISETI ARVENSIS HERBA)

Composition:

Active substance: field horsetail herb (Equiseti arvensis herba).

One pack contains 50 g or 100 g of field horsetail herb (Equiseti arvensis herba).

Pharmaceutical form. Herb.

Main physico-chemical characteristics: fragments of hollow, ribbed stems with nodes and internodes; linear leaves of light green to greyish-green color. The fragments are rough to the touch, brittle and crisp when crushed, and pass through a sieve with 7 mm diameter openings.

Pharmacotherapeutic group.

Diuretics. ATC code C03B X.

Pharmacological properties.

The biologically active substances of the medicinal product exert diuretic, hemostatic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and hypotensive effects. It has been experimentally established that infusions of field horsetail herb promote the excretion of lead from the body.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Cardiac and other diseases associated with edema; urinary tract diseases (pyelitis, cystitis, urethritis); pulmonary, nasal, uterine, and hemorrhoidal bleeding; acute and chronic lead poisoning (as part of complex therapy).

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug. Nephritis, nephroses, nephrosis-nephritis.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

Unknown.

If it is necessary to use any other medicinal products simultaneously, consult a physician.

Special precautions for use.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Contraindicated.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery.

Method of administration and dosage.

Place 2 tablespoons of the herb into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then strain, squeeze the residue, and add the expressed liquid to the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. Shake the infusion before use.

Administer warm, 3–4 times daily, 1 hour after meals: adults and children aged 14 years and older – ¼ cup; children aged 12–14 years – 2 tablespoons.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children.

The medicinal product is used in children aged 12 years and older.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions (including hyperemia, itching, and skin rashes). Irritation of kidney tissue manifested by back pain and pain at the end of urination.

If any adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the medicinal product and consult a physician.

Do not use the medicinal product after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions.

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
