INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT COMFREY TINCTURE (SYMPHYTITINCTURA)

Composition:

Active ingredient: 1 vial contains comfrey tincture of roots (Symphyti radices) (1:10) (extractant – ethanol 55%) 50 ml.

Pharmaceutical form. Tincture.

Main physico-chemical properties: clear dark brown liquid with a faint odor. Formation of a slight sediment during storage is permissible.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Agents used locally for joint and muscular pain. ATC code M02AX.

Pharmacological Properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The main active ingredients of Symphytum officinale tincture are allantoin, mucilaginous substances, and tannins. Allantoin stimulates bone tissue growth, epithelial regeneration, reduces pain sensations, and exerts hemostatic and anti-inflammatory effects; the tannins of Symphytum officinale accelerate the healing processes of wounds and ulcerative lesions.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Neuralgia, sciatica, lumbago, radiculitis, arthralgia, osteochondrosis, arthritis. Sports- and household-related injuries (contusions, ligament sprains, closed bone fractures); slow-healing wounds.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interactions.

Special precautions for use.

To avoid adverse effects, apply a small amount of the product to the skin in advance to determine individual sensitivity. Do not apply to skin exhibiting allergic reactions, mucous membranes, or open wounds. Avoid contact with eyes.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contraindicated.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery. Does not affect.

Method of Administration and Dosage.

Before use, shake the tincture well.

Apply externally 2–3 times daily: rub the affected areas with the preparation.

For wounds, apply the preparation as compresses.

The duration of treatment course depends on the severity of the disease and the nature of concomitant therapy, and should not exceed 10 days, nor should it exceed 4–6 weeks within a year.

Children. Clinical experience with use of the preparation in children is lacking.
