INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT SKYPIDARNAYA OINTMENT

Composition:

Active substance: purified turpentine oil;

1 g of ointment contains 0.2 g of purified turpentine oil;

Excipients: white soft paraffin, purified water, emulsifier T-2.

Pharmaceutical form. Ointment.

Main physicochemical properties: ointment of white color with a yellowish tint and the smell of turpentine. The ointment should be homogeneous in appearance.

Pharmacotherapeutic group.

Agents applied locally for joint and muscle pain.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics. "Turpentine ointment" has a counterirritant, mild anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and analgesic effect. The counterirritant effect is associated with its ability to penetrate through the epidermis and cause reflex changes due to stimulation of skin receptors. A certain role is also played by the release of biologically active substances from the skin, in particular histamine.

Pharmacokinetics. Not studied.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Neuralgias, myositis, arthritis.

Contraindications.

Severe kidney and liver diseases, skin diseases of various etiologies, hypersensitivity to the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

"Turpentine ointment" is chemically incompatible with iodine solution.

Special precautions for use.

Avoid contact of the ointment with mucous membranes and eyes! If accidental contact with eyes occurs, rinse them thoroughly with plenty of running water.

Do not apply to damaged areas of the skin.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

The use of the medicinal product is contraindicated during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Ability to influence reaction rate when driving or operating machinery.

Caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery due to the possibility of generalized adverse reactions occurring (see section "Adverse reactions").

Method of Administration and Dosage.

Apply "Turpentine Ointment" externally to adults by rubbing it into painful areas 2–3 times daily.

The duration of use should be determined based on the course of the disease.

Consult a physician if symptoms do not improve during treatment with the medicinal product or if any adverse reactions occur.

Children.

There is no experience with the use of this medicinal product in children; therefore, the ointment is not recommended for use in this patient group.

Overdose.

An increased sensitivity to the drug and intensification of adverse effects may occur.

Adverse reactions.

In case of hypersensitivity to the drug, local allergic reactions may occur (including itching, swelling, skin redness, burning sensation, rash). In individual cases, generalized allergic reactions may occur (urticaria, rapid heartbeat, decreased blood pressure, dizziness, seizures, loss of consciousness).

Shelf life. 2 years.

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
