INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT PUSTYRNIA TINCTURE

Composition:

Active substance: motherwort herb tincture (Leonuricardiacae herba);

1 vial contains 25 ml or 50 ml of motherwort herb tincture (Leonuricardiacae herba) (1:5) (extractant – ethanol 70%);

Excipients: none, except the extractant;

1 ml of the preparation contains 0.64 ml of ethanol.

Pharmaceutical form. Tincture.

Main physicochemical properties: clear greenish-brown liquid with a faint aromatic odor. Sediment may appear during storage.

Sedative and hypnotic agents. ATC Code N05CM.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The tincture of Viburnum is pharmacologically similar to valerian preparations. The sedative effect occurs due to enhancement of inhibitory processes or reduction of excitatory processes in the central nervous system. It does not produce hypnotic effects, but facilitates the onset of physiological sleep and deepens it. Does not cause habituation or psychological dependence.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Functional disorders of cardiovascular system activity (hyperkinetic type neurocirculatory dystonia), early stages of arterial hypertension, increased emotional excitability, irritability, mild forms of sleep disturbances.

Contraindications.

Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug. Marked hypotension (reduction in arterial blood pressure), bradycardia.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions.

Preparations of Leonurus cardiaca tincture may potentiate the pharmacological effects of sedatives, hypnotics, analgesics, antihypertensive agents, and cardiac glycosides, as well as enhance the effects of alcohol.

Inform your doctor about the concurrent use of any other medicinal products.

Special precautions for use.

It is not recommended to use the medicinal product for a prolonged period due to its ethanol content.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Since the product contains ethyl alcohol, the tincture is not recommended for oral use in women during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery.

When taking Motherwort tincture, caution should be exercised regarding the ability to drive or operate potentially hazardous machinery.

Dosage and Administration.

Take Pustyrnik tincture orally after meals.

The recommended dose for adults is 30–50 drops of the tincture 3–4 times daily until a stable therapeutic effect is achieved. For children aged 12 years and older, the dose is calculated as 1 drop per year of life.

The duration of treatment is determined individually for each patient, taking into account the nature and severity of the pathological process, characteristics of the disease course, drug tolerance, and stability of the achieved therapeutic effect.

Children.

Since the preparation contains ethanol, the tincture is not recommended for oral use in children under 12 years of age.

Overdose.

In case of exceeding the recommended doses, symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, and decreased arterial pressure may occur. If overdose occurs, discontinue the drug and immediately initiate symptomatic and supportive therapy (according to the patient's clinical condition).

Increased sensitivity to the drug is possible.

Side effects.

Immune system side effects: local allergic reactions (skin redness and swelling, rash, itching) may occur in cases of individual hypersensitivity.

Central nervous system side effects: dizziness, drowsiness, feeling of fatigue, reduced mental and physical performance.

Shelf life. 4 years.

Do not use the medicinal product after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
