INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT PUSTYRNIC

Composition:

Active ingredient: 1 tablet contains 14 mg of concentrated extract of motherwort herb (Leonuri cardiaca herba) (1:0.15), calculated according to the content of total flavonoids 0.4% and dry residue;

Excipients: lactose monohydrate; potato starch; confectioner's sugar; talc; calcium stearate; silicified microcrystalline cellulose.

Pharmaceutical form. Tablets.

Main physicochemical characteristics: intact, regular, cylindrical, flat on both upper and lower surfaces, with beveled edges, light brown to brown or greenish-brown in color with specks.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The herb of black hawthorn contains steroid glycosides, essential oil, stachydrine, the alkaloid leopurine, flavonoids (quercetin, rutin, quinqueloside), vitamin A precursor, ascorbic acid, saponins, sugar, pigments and tannins, bitter substances, and mineral salts.

Black hawthorn preparations enhance inhibitory processes or reduce excitatory processes in the central nervous system, facilitate falling asleep and deepen natural sleep, promote normalization of arterial pressure, and have a moderate cardiostimulant effect. With prolonged use, they do not cause habituation or the development of psychological and physical dependence.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

The drug is used in adults as a sedative for increased nervous excitability, cardiovascular neuroses, early stages of hypertension, and mild forms of sleep onset and sleep disturbances.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to biologically active substances contained in the herbal medicinal raw material.

Predisposition to arterial hypotension.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

Valerian may potentiate the pharmacological effects of sedatives, hypnotics, analgesics, antihypertensive drugs, and cardiac glycosides, as well as enhance the effects of alcohol.

Special precautions for use.

The medicinal product contains lactose; therefore, it is not recommended for patients with rare hereditary forms of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

The medicinal product is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Ability to affect reaction rate when driving or operating machinery.

During treatment with this medicinal product, patients should refrain from driving vehicles or performing other tasks that require heightened attention and rapid mental or physical reactions.

Dosage and Administration.

For adults and children aged 12 years and older, the recommended dose is 1 tablet (14 mg) taken orally 3–4 times daily. The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician for each patient, depending on the nature, severity, and specific course of the disease, stability of the therapeutic effect achieved, and the patient's tolerance to the drug.

Children.

The drug is not administered to children under 12 years of age.

Overdose.

In case of exceeding the recommended doses, symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, and decreased arterial blood pressure may occur.

Treatment. In case of overdose, discontinue the drug immediately. Symptomatic and supportive therapy should be administered according to the patient's clinical condition.

Adverse reactions.

Skin-related: rash, itching, hyperemia, and swelling of the skin.

Gastrointestinal tract: dyspepsia.

Immune system: allergic reactions.

Nervous system: dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, decreased mental and physical performance.

Shelf life. 2 years.

The medicine should not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions.

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
