INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT FARFARA LEAVES (FOLIA FARFARAE)

Composition:

Active substance: farfara leaves (Folia Farfarae);

1 pack contains 40 g of farfara leaves (Folia Farfarae); 1 pack contains 50 g of farfara leaves (Folia Farfarae).

Dosage form. Leaves.

Main physico-chemical properties: fragments of leaves of various shapes. Color is grayish-green. Odorless. Taste is weakly bitter with a sensation of sliminess.

Pharmacotherapeutic group.

Expectorant agent. ATC code R05C A.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The biologically active components of the drug exert expectorant, anti-inflammatory, soothing, diaphoretic, and spasmolytic effects; restore the ciliary epithelium activity of the trachea and bronchi, promote liquefaction and expulsion of sputum, and provide a coating action on the mucous membranes of the oral cavity and larynx, protecting them from irritation.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Respiratory tract diseases (laryngitis, tracheitis, chronic bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis) as part of complex therapy.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the active substances of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interactions.

Usage characteristics.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Under a doctor's prescription, in cases where the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving vehicles or operating other machinery.

Dosage and Administration.

Place 2 dessert spoons of leaves into an enameled container, pour 200 mL of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Allow to cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then strain and squeeze the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 mL with boiled water. Take warm: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – ⅓–½ cup 2–3 times daily, 1 hour before meals, or 1 tablespoon 4–6 times daily. For children aged 12–14 years – ¼ cup; aged 7–12 years – 2 tablespoons; aged 3–7 years – 1 tablespoon, 2–3 times daily, 1 hour before meals. Shake the infusion before use.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children.

The drug may be used in children aged 3 years and older (under medical prescription).

Side effects.

In case of hypersensitivity, allergic reactions are possible (including hyperemia, rash, itching, skin swelling).

Shelf life. 3 years.

Do not use the product after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions.

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, in a place inaccessible to children. Prepared infusion should be stored in a cool place for no more than 2 days.
