INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT LINSEED (Lini semen)
Composition:
Active substance: linseed (Lini semen);
One pack contains 100 g or 200 g of linseed (Lini semen).
Pharmaceutical form. Seeds.
Main physico-chemical characteristics: seeds are flattened, elongated-ovoid in shape, 4 to 6 mm long, 2 to 3 mm wide, and 1.5 to 2 mm thick; rounded at one end and pointed at the other, with a clearly visible seed hilum. The seed coat ranges from dark reddish-brown to yellow, smooth and shiny; under magnification, finely reticulate. Beneath the coat lies a narrow whitish endosperm and an embryo consisting of two large, flat, yellowish, oily cotyledons.
Pharmacotherapeutic group.
Agents for treatment of acid-related disorders. ATC code A02X.
Pharmacological properties.
The active ingredients of the medicinal product exert a coating, anti-inflammatory, and mild laxative effect, forming a thin layer over the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract and preventing their irritation.
Clinical characteristics.
Indications.
As part of complex therapy for diseases of the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract (enteritis, colitis, esophagitis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum), inflammatory skin conditions (furunculosis, abscesses).
Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug. Acute and chronic cholecystitis in the stage of exacerbation; intestinal obstruction.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions.
Unknown.
Special precautions for use.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Under medical supervision, when the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/infant.
Ability to affect reaction speed when driving vehicles or operating machinery.
Has no effect.
Dosage and Administration.
Pour 100 ml of boiling water over 1 teaspoon of seeds and shake for 15 minutes, then strain. Administer internally only freshly prepared warm preparation, 3 times daily, 30 minutes before meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – ¼ cup; for children aged 12–14 years – 2 tablespoons; aged 7–12 years – 1 tablespoon; aged 3–7 years – 1 dessert spoon.
Do not store the mucilage.
Externally, apply dry heated seeds in cloth bags or freshly ground seeds steeped in a small amount of boiling water as poultices on boils and abscesses to accelerate their maturation.
The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.
Children.
Can be used in children aged 3 years and older, as prescribed by a doctor.
Overdose.
Diarrhea may occur in case of overdose.
Adverse reactions.
Allergic reactions are possible; with prolonged use – diarrhea and pain syndrome. If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the medicinal product and consult a physician.
Shelf life. 3 years.
Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
Storage conditions.
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
