INSTRUCTIONS for medical use of the medicinal product Zirka

Composition:

Active ingredients: menthol, camphor, peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil, clove oil, cinnamon oil;

1 tube-stick contains menthol 658 mg, camphor 124 mg, peppermint oil 258 mg, eucalyptus oil 65 mg, clove oil 5 mg, cinnamon oil 6 mg;

Excipient: mineral oil.

Pharmaceutical form. Inhalation balm.

Main physicochemical characteristics: white plastic tube with a tightly screwed cap. Inside the tube there is a cylindrical filter impregnated with ingredients; characteristic odour of essential oils.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Combined preparations for the treatment of nasal cavity disorders. ATC code R01A X30.

Pharmacological properties.

The drug belongs to the group of agents that stimulate receptors of mucous membranes, skin, and subcutaneous tissues. It has anti-inflammatory, local irritant, antiseptic, and anesthetic properties, dilates capillaries, thereby improving blood supply and slightly reducing arterial pressure, acts on reflex centers of the central nervous system, producing a stimulating effect. The action of the inhalation pencil is manifested by alleviating the inflammatory process and reflex relief of pain (headache, muscle pain) caused by influenza, colds, and other factors.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Symptomatic treatment of cold, rhinitis, headache, dizziness, nausea.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to any component of the medicinal product. Bronchial asthma, whooping cough, pseudocroup, predisposition to bronchospasm or seizures.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

Studies on the interaction of the drug with other medicinal products have not been conducted.

Special precautions for use

For external use only. Avoid contact of the balm with eyes, mucous membranes, and open wounds.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding

Due to lack of experience with the use of Star balm during pregnancy or breastfeeding, the medicinal product is not recommended for administration in these patient categories.

Ability to influence reaction rate when driving or operating machinery

If adverse reactions from the nervous system occur (dizziness, excitement, seizures), driving or operating machinery should be avoided.

Method of Administration and Dosage

Inhale carefully, holding the inhaler close to the nose. Administer 1–2 inhalations into each nostril 10–15 times per day, until symptoms disappear.

Children.

Contraindicated for children under 3 years of age.

The product should be used with caution in children aged 3 years and older when applied to the facial area, as it may cause bronchospasm.

Overdose.

Possible intensification of adverse reactions, sensation of intense warmth and burning.

In case of accidental ingestion, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, symptoms of central nervous system depression, dizziness, ataxia, seizures, flushing, drowsiness, and respiratory difficulty may occur.

Treatment: gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions, including skin rashes, urticaria, itching, irritation of skin and mucous membranes.

Nervous system side effects: headache, dizziness, excitement; convulsions caused by camphor may occur.

Respiratory system side effects: increased likelihood and frequency of bronchospasm, especially in children.

Shelf life. 5 years.

Storage conditions.

Store in a dry, light-protected place at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.

Keep out of reach of children.
