INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT VITASEPT (VITASEPT)
Composition:
Active substance: ethanol;
not less than 69.3% v/v and not more than 70.7% v/v ethanol and water.
Pharmaceutical form. Solution for external use.
Main physicochemical properties: clear, colorless, volatile, highly flammable liquid. Hygroscopic.
Pharmacotherapeutic group. Antiseptics and disinfectants. ATC code D08AX08.
Pharmacological properties.
Pharmacodynamics.
When applied externally, exerts antiseptic, disinfectant, and local irritant effects. Ethanol coagulates proteins and is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria as well as viruses.
Pharmacokinetics.
Not absorbed through the skin when applied locally.
Clinical characteristics.
Indications.
Furuncles, panaritium, infiltrates, mastitis in the initial stages. For
wiping and compresses. Surgical hand disinfection.
Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity. Should not be used in acute inflammatory skin conditions.
Special precautions.
In case of skin redness or irritation, discontinue use of the product and wash the area with water.
Avoid contact with eyes!
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.
When ethanol is applied topically, interactions with other medicinal products are unknown.
Special precautions for use.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
The use of the drug during pregnancy or breastfeeding is possible only when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant.
Ability to influence the speed of reactions when driving vehicles or
working with other machinery.
Has no effect.
Method of Administration and Dosage.
Externally – for rubbing, compresses, and disinfection of the skin, including hands. For compresses and rubbing (with the aim of preventing irritation), ethanol should be diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio.
Children.
Use as directed by a physician.
Overdose.
Cases of overdose are unknown with external application.
Side effects.
Skin or mucous membrane irritation may occur with local application.
If any adverse reactions occur, consult a physician.
Shelf life.
4 years.
The product must not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
Storage conditions.
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C in the original packaging. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with open flame.
