INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT ALNIFRUCTUS

Composition:

Active substance: alder cones (Alnifructus);

One pack contains alder cones (Alnifructus) 40 g or 100 g;
One filter bag contains alder cones (Alnifructus) 2.5 g.

Pharmaceutical form. Cones.

Main physico-chemical properties:

Whole raw material: oval or elongated alder cones (strobiles), with or without stalks, scales or fruits; color of the strobiles and twigs is dark brown or dark brownish; odor is weak; taste is astringent;

Powdered raw material: fragments of stalks, scales, axes of strobiles of various shapes and fruit-nuts, from light brown to dark brown; odor is weak; taste is astringent.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Agents affecting the digestive system and metabolic processes. ATC code A16AX.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics. Biologically active substances of the suppository exert astringent, disinfectant, anti-inflammatory, desensitizing, and hemostatic effects; promote reduction of fermentation and putrefaction processes in chronic gastrointestinal diseases, as well as epithelialization of mucous membranes.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Acute and chronic enteritis, enterocolitis, colitis, dyspepsia (as part of complex therapy).

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interactions. Unknown.

Instructions for use.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Under the supervision of a physician in cases where the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery.

Method of Administration and Dosage

Whole raw material: Place 2 tablespoons of the raw material into an enameled container, pour 200 mL of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and heat on a boiling water bath for 30 minutes. Cool, strain, and squeeze out the residue into the strained decoction. Adjust the decoction volume to 200 mL with boiled water. Take warm, 3–4 times daily, 30 minutes before meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – 1 tablespoon; for children aged 10–14 years – 1 dessert spoon; for children aged 5–10 years – 1 teaspoon. Shake the decoction before use.

Powdered raw material: Place 1 tablespoon of powdered raw material into an enameled container, pour 200 mL of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and heat on a boiling water bath for 30 minutes. Cool, strain, and squeeze out the residue into the strained decoction. Adjust the decoction volume to 200 mL with boiled water. Take warm, 3–4 times daily, 30 minutes before meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – 1 tablespoon; for children aged 10–14 years – 1 dessert spoon; for children aged 5–10 years – 1 teaspoon. Filter bags: Place 2 filter bags into a glass or enameled container, pour 100 mL of boiling water, cover, and let steep for 15–20 minutes. Take warm, 3 times daily, 30 minutes before meals: for adults and adolescents aged 14 years and older – 1 tablespoon; for children aged 10–14 years – 1 dessert spoon; for children aged 5–10 years – 1 teaspoon.

The prepared aqueous extract should be stored at 8–15°C for no more than 2 days.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children

The product may be used in children aged 5 years and older, as prescribed by a physician.

Overdose

Overdose or prolonged use may cause symptoms of hypersensitivity to the product, such as allergic reactions.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions (including hyperemia, rash, itching, and skin swelling). If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the product.

Shelf life. 3 years. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the package.

Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 30°C,
in a place inaccessible to children.

Packaging. 40 g sachets in cartons; 100 g in cartons with an inner pouch; 2.5 g in filter bags, 20 filter bags in cartons or in cartons with an inner pouch.
