INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT PINE BUDS (GEMMAEPINI)

Composition:

Active substance: pine buds (Gemmae Pini);

One pack contains pine buds (Gemmae Pini) – 50 g or 100 g.

Pharmaceutical form. Buds.

Main physico-chemical properties: buds (shortened terminal shoots) solitary or several in whorls surrounding a larger central bud, without stem or with stem remnants not exceeding 3 mm in length. Bud surfaces covered with dry, spirally arranged, lanceolate, pointed, scale-like structures, glued together by exuded resin.

Externally colored reddish-brown, green or brown when broken. Bud length – 1–4 cm. Odor pleasant, resinous. Taste bitter.

Pharmacotherapeutic group.
Agents used for cough and colds. Expectorants. ATC code R05C A.

Pharmacological Properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The biologically active substances of the drug stimulate secretory activity of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract, exert expectorant action, act bactericidally on pathogenic microflora of the nasopharynx and oral cavity, as well as exhibit weak diuretic and diaphoretic properties.

Pharmacokinetics. Pharmacokinetics has not been studied.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Respiratory tract diseases (chronic bronchitis, pneumonias); externally – for laryngitis, tracheitis, tonsillitis (as part of complex therapy).

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the active substances of the drug. Nephritis, nephroses, pyelitis, glomerulonephritis, hepatitis, nephropathies in pregnancy, bronchial asthma.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interactions. Unknown.

Special precautions.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Contraindicated for internal use (may provoke kidney damage).

Effect on the ability to drive or operate machinery.

Method of Administration and Dosage.

Place 2 tablespoons of buds into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and infuse in a boiling water bath for 30 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 10 minutes, then strain and squeeze the residue into the strained decoction. Adjust the decoction volume to 200 ml with boiled water.

Administer warm, 3 times daily after meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – ⅓ cup; for children aged 12–14 years – 2 tablespoons; aged 7–12 years – 1 tablespoon; aged 3–7 years – 1 teaspoon.

Use warmed decoction locally for inhalations and gargling.

Shake the preparation before use.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children.

The preparation may be used in children from 3 years of age.

Overdose.

Overdose and prolonged use may cause inflammation of mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract, as well as headache.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions (including hyperemia, rash, itching, skin swelling); albuminuria, hematuria. Bronchospasm is possible with inhalation use.

Shelf life. 2 years.

Do not use after the expiry date stated on the package.

Storage conditions.

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25°C, in a place inaccessible to children. Prepared infusion should be stored in a cool place (8–15°C) for no more than 2 days.
