INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT STOMACHICAESPECIES № 3 (SHLUNKOVYI ZBIR № 3)

Composition:

Active substances: 1 g of the herbal mixture contains:
Frangulae cortex (cortex of buckthorn) – 300 mg,
Urticae folium (leaves of nettle) – 300 mg,
Menthae piperitae folium (leaves of peppermint) – 200 mg,
Valerianae rhizomata cum radicibus (rhizomes with roots of valerian) – 100 mg,
Calamagrostidis rhizomata (rhizomes of reed canary grass) – 100 mg.

Pharmaceutical form. Herbal mixture.

Main physico-chemical characteristics: a mixture of heterogeneous fragments of dark green, grayish-brown, dark brown color with orange and yellowish-white inclusions.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The biologically active substances in the herbal mixture stimulate the receptors of the gastric and intestinal mucosa, thereby exerting a regulatory effect on the functions—including motility—of the specified parts of the gastrointestinal tract. They produce mild laxative, spasmolytic, sedative, anti-inflammatory, and choleretic effects.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications. Gastrointestinal spasms, chronic gastritis and cholecystitis, biliary tract dyskinesia, constipation – as part of complex therapy.

Contraindications. Hypersensitivity to biologically active substances of the drug. Bronchial asthma, neurogenic and endocrine constipation, spastic constipation, "acute abdomen" syndrome, appendicitis, acute gastroenterocolitis, other inflammatory processes of the abdominal cavity, stomach, intestine; increased gastric juice acidity, intestinal obstruction; ulcerative colitis; gastrointestinal and uterine bleeding (unrelated to the menstrual cycle), acute severe conditions, depression and other diseases accompanied by suppression of central nervous system activity.

Special precautions. In patients with gastroesophageal reflux, heartburn may be intensified. Prolonged use of the drug may lead to weakening or absence of laxative effect. To prevent habituation, it is advisable to follow the recommended treatment course.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions. Possible reduction in the effectiveness of antacids and H2-histamine receptor blockers (ranitidine, famotidine).

Usage characteristics.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contraindicated.

Ability to affect reaction rate when driving or operating machinery. Does not affect.

Method of Administration and Dosage.

Place 1 tablespoon of the herbal mixture into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then strain and squeeze the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the final volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. Take warm, twice daily, 15–20 minutes before meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – ½ cup; for children aged 12–14 years – ⅓ cup. Shake the infusion before use.

Place 2 filter packets into a glass or enameled container, pour 200 ml of boiling water, cover and steep for 15 minutes. Take warm, twice daily, 15–20 minutes before meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – 1 cup; for children aged 12–14 years – ½ cup.

Store the prepared infusion at 8–15°C for no more than 2 days.

Treatment course: 20–25 days. Repeat courses should be administered after a 10–12 day break.

Children. The drug should be administered to children aged 12 years and older only under medical supervision.

Overdose. Exceeding the recommended dosage or prolonged use (longer than 2 months) may lead to colicky abdominal pain, nausea, tenesmus, discomfort, diarrhea with metabolic disturbances, dehydration, reduced intestinal enzyme function, atony of the large intestine, as well as feelings of depression, increased fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, bradycardia, chest pain, and increased blood coagulability. Treatment is symptomatic (gastric lavage, administration of activated charcoal, sodium sulfate).

Side effects.

Allergic reactions are possible (including urticaria, skin rash, and skin edema, itching, hyperemia, contact dermatitis). Colicky abdominal pain, intestinal dysfunction, heartburn, nausea, bradycardia, arrhythmia, suppression of emotional responses, mental depression, headache, anxiety may occur. In case of hypersensitivity to valerian rhizomes with roots, sleep disturbances and paradoxical stimulating effects may occur. If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the drug and consult a physician.

Shelf life. 2 years.

Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, in a place inaccessible to children.

1.5 g in tea bags; 20 tea bags per carton or in a carton with an inner pouch.
