INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT SAGE LEAVES (SALVIAE OFFICINALIS FOLIUM)

Composition:

Active substance: sage leaves (Salviae officinalis folium);

1 pack contains sage leaves (Salviae officinalis folium) – 40 g or 50 g or 60 g;
1 filter bag contains sage leaves (Salviae officinalis folium) – 1.5 g.

Pharmaceutical form. Leaves.

Main physicochemical properties:

Crude herb material: fragmented leaves of various shapes, with a small amount of other plant parts (stem fragments, flowers with and without pedicels). Color is green, grayish-green, or silvery-white, with blue-violet specks. Odor is pleasant. Taste is bitter-spicy, slightly astringent.

Coarse powder: leaf fragments of various shapes, with a small amount of other plant parts (stem fragments, flowers with and without pedicels), ground to a particle size of 3–5 mm. Color is green, grayish-green, or silvery-white, with blue-violet specks. Odor is pleasant. Taste is bitter-spicy, slightly astringing.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

Biologically active substances from the leaves strengthen epithelial tissues, reduce cell membrane permeability, and reinforce the walls of damaged blood vessels. They exert astringent, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and hemostatic effects.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Diseases of the oral cavity (stomatitis, gingivitis, periodontitis) and upper respiratory tract (laryngitis, pharyngitis, tracheitis).

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction. Unknown.

Special precautions.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. On a physician's prescription, when the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child.

Ability to affect reaction rate when driving or operating machinery. No effect.

Dosage and Administration.

Place 1 tablespoonful into an enameled container, pour 200 mL of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the infusion volume to 200 mL with boiled water. For external use in inhalations and gargling 3–4 times daily: for adults and children aged 12 years and older – undiluted; for children aged 7–12 years – dilute 4 tablespoons of the infusion in 200 mL of boiled water; for children aged 3–7 years – dilute 2 tablespoons of the infusion in 200 mL of boiled water.

Place 3 filter packets into a glass or enameled container, pour 200 mL of boiling water, cover and let steep for 15 minutes. For external use in inhalations and gargling 3–4 times daily: for adults and children aged 12 years and older – undiluted; for children aged 7–12 years – dilute 4 tablespoons of the infusion in 200 mL of boiled water; for children aged 3–7 years – dilute 2 tablespoons of the infusion in 200 mL of boiled water.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children.

The medication may be used in children aged 3 years and older only as prescribed by a physician.

Overdose.

In case of overdose, adverse reactions may be intensified.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions (including hyperemia, rash, itching, skin swelling). If side effects occur, discontinue use of the product and consult a physician.

Shelf life. 1 year 6 months.

Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions.

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, in a place inaccessible to children. Prepared infusion should be stored in a cool place for no more than 2 days.

Packaging.

40 g, 50 g, or 60 g per package with inner pouch; 1.5 g in a tea bag, 20 tea bags per package.
