INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT PUZHYRNIA TINCTURE

Composition:

Active substance: motherwort tincture (Herbae Leonuri);

1 vial contains motherwort tincture (Herbae Leonuri) (1:5) (extraction solvent – 70% ethanol) 25 ml or 30 ml;

Excipients: none

Pharmaceutical form. Tincture.

Main physicochemical properties: clear greenish-brown liquid. Formation of a precipitate during storage is permissible.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Sedative and hypnotic agents. ATC code N05CM.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

In terms of its action, the Leonurus tincture is similar to valerian preparations. The sedative effect occurs due to enhancement of inhibition processes or slowing of excitation processes in the central nervous system. It does not exhibit hypnotic effects, but facilitates the onset of physiological sleep and deepens it. Does not cause habituation or psychological dependence.

Pharmacokinetics. Not studied.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications. Functional disorders of the cardiovascular system (neurocirculatory dystonia of the hypertensive type), early stages of arterial hypertension, increased emotional excitability, irritability, mild forms of sleep disturbances.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Marked hypotension (reduced arterial pressure), bradycardia.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions.

Tincture of Leonurus cardiaca may potentiate the pharmacological effects of sedatives, hypnotics, analgesics, antihypertensive drugs, and cardiac glycosides, as well as enhance the effects of alcohol.

Inform your doctor about the concurrent use of any other medicinal products.

Special precautions for use.

Prolonged use of the medicinal product is not recommended due to the presence of ethanol.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Since the product contains ethyl alcohol, the tincture is not recommended for oral administration to women during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Ability to influence reaction rate when driving or operating machinery.

When taking Pustyrnyk tincture, caution should be exercised while driving vehicles or operating potentially hazardous machinery.

Method of Administration and Dosage

Pustyrnyk tincture is taken orally after meals.

Adults are recommended to take 30–50 drops of the tincture 3–4 times a day until a stable therapeutic effect is achieved. For children over 12 years of age, the dosage is calculated as 1 drop per year of life. The duration of treatment is determined individually for each patient, taking into account the nature and severity of the pathological process, characteristics of the disease course, tolerability of the drug, and stability of the achieved therapeutic effect.

Children. Since the formulation contains ethanol, the tincture is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

Overdose.

If the recommended doses are exceeded, symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, and decreased arterial blood pressure may occur. In case of overdose, administration of the drug should be discontinued and immediate symptomatic and supportive therapy initiated (according to the patient's clinical condition).

Increased sensitivity to the drug may also develop.

Adverse Reactions.

In individuals with increased sensitivity, local allergic reactions (including skin redness and swelling, rash, itching) may occur, as well as dizziness, drowsiness, feeling of fatigue, decreased mental and physical performance.

Store in original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
