I N S T R U C T I O N for medical use of the medicinal product POL-PALA (POL-PALA)
Composition:
Active substance: herb of hairy erva (Aerva lanata herba).
Medicinal form. Herb.
Main physico-chemical properties: leaves, inflorescences, flowers, fruits, fragments of stems, roots of various shapes. Color is grayish-green.
Pharmacotherapeutic group. Diuretics. ATC Code C03BX.
Pharmacological properties.
Pharmacodynamics.
The herb of Ervum hirsutum (shaved erver) contains flavonoids, polysaccharides, mucilage, organic acids, tannins, coumarins, and saponins.
Preparations of Ervum hirsutum exhibit saluretic and diuretic effects, accompanied by increased excretion of sodium and calcium ions, as well as reduced plasma urea levels.
Clinical characteristics.
Indications.
The drug is used as part of combination therapy for inflammatory diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract (chronic pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis), uric acid diathesis (early stages of urolithiasis), as well as a diuretic agent in diabetic nephropathy, arterial hypertension, and edema of various origins.
Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity to the drug. Osteoporosis; conditions accompanied by increased excretion of Ca²⁺ (e.g., rickets, hypoparathyroidism, renal osteodystrophy). Presence of stones whose size exceeds the diameter of the ureter.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions. Unknown.
Special precautions for use.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. There is no information available regarding the experience of using the drug during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Ability to affect reaction rate when driving or operating machinery. No data available.
Method of administration and dosage.
Place 2 tablespoons of the herb into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and let stand on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Allow to cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then strain, squeezing the residue and adding the expressed liquid to the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. Adults should take ¼–½ cup of the warm infusion 2–3 times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals. The infusion should be shaken before use.
Store the prepared aqueous extract in the refrigerator (at 2–8 °C) for no more than 2 days.
The treatment course lasts 10–30 days.
Children. The drug is contraindicated in children.
Overdose. No reports available.
Side effects.
In isolated cases, nausea may occur. Allergic reactions (including hyperemia, rashes, itching, and skin swelling).
Shelf life. 3 years.
Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
Storage conditions. At a temperature not exceeding 30 °C.
