INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT UVA URSI LEAVES (UVAE URSI FOLIA)
Composition:
Active substance: uva ursi leaves (Uvae ursi folia);
1 pack contains uva ursi leaves (Uvae ursi folia) 50 g;
1 pack contains uva ursi leaves (Uvae ursi folia) 100 g;
1 filter bag contains uva ursi leaves (Uvae ursi folia) 2.0 g.
Pharmaceutical form. Leaves.
Main physicochemical characteristics: fragments of leaves of various shapes, green, greenish-grey or yellowish-green in colour.
Pharmacotherapeutic group. Non-thiazide diuretics with moderately expressed activity.

Pharmacological properties.
Pharmacodynamics.
The biologically active substances of the drug exert diuretic, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and saluretic effects. The drug increases diuresis and exhibits antibacterial properties under conditions of alkaline urine reaction.
Clinical characteristics.
Indications. Inflammatory diseases of the kidneys, urinary bladder, and urinary tract (pyelitis, cystitis, urethritis), renal insufficiency with impaired water and mineral metabolism – as part of complex therapy.
Contraindications. Hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug. Pregnancy.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interactions. Do not use simultaneously with medicinal products and food that reduce urine pH.
Special precautions for use.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contraindicated during pregnancy. May be used during breastfeeding if the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the infant.
Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery. No effect.
Method of Administration and Dosage.
Place 1 tablespoon of leaves into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and steep in a water bath for 30 minutes. Immediately after, filter the decoction and squeeze the residue into the filtered decoction. Adjust the decoction volume to 200 ml by adding boiled water. For adults and children aged 16 years and older, take 1 tablespoon of the warm decoction 5–6 times daily, 40 minutes after meals. For children, prepare the decoction using 1 teaspoon of leaves per 100 ml of water. Administer the decoction to children 4 times daily, 40 minutes after meals: for children aged 5–7 years – 1 teaspoon; aged 7–12 years – 1 dessert spoon; aged 12–16 years – 2 dessert spoons.
Shake the decoction before administration.
Place 2 tea bags into a glass or enameled container, pour 200 ml of boiling water, cover and steep for 15 minutes. For adults and children aged 16 years and older, take ¼ cup of the warm infusion 4–5 times daily, 40 minutes after meals. For children, administer 3 times daily, 40 minutes after meals: aged 5–7 years – 1 dessert spoon; aged 7–12 years – 1 tablespoon; aged 12–16 years – ¼ cup.
Store the prepared decoction or infusion at 8–15 °C for no more than 2 days.
The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.
Children. The drug may be used in children aged 5 years and older as prescribed by a physician.
Overdose. Exceeding the recommended doses or prolonged use may lead to impaired kidney function and miscarriage in pregnant women. Treatment is symptomatic.
Side Effects. Dark green discoloration of urine, allergic reactions (including hyperemia, rash, itching, skin swelling), nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use and consult a physician.
Shelf Life. 5 years.
Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
Storage Conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, in a place inaccessible to children.
