INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT ORIGANI HERBA (ORIGANI HERBA)

Composition:

Active substance: Origanum herb;

One pack contains 50 g or 75 g of Origanum herb;

One filter bag contains 1.5 g of Origanum herb.

Pharmaceutical form. Herb.

Main physico-chemical characteristics:

Powdered raw material: fragments of leaves, stems, inflorescences, and individual flowers in green or purplish, grayish-green, greenish-purple, or dark purple colors, with brownish-purple, brownish-pink, purple, or dark purple specks;

Coarse powder: fragments of leaves, stems, and flowers of various shapes in green or purplish, grayish-green, greenish-purple, or dark purple colors, with brownish-purple, brownish-pink, purple, or dark purple specks.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Medicinal products used for cough and colds. Expectorants. ATC code R05C A.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

Motherwort preparations enhance secretion of digestive, bronchial, and sweat glands, exert a calming effect on the central nervous system, enhance intestinal peristalsis and intestinal tone, stimulate uterine smooth muscle contractions, promote bile secretion, increase diuresis, regulate the menstrual cycle, and possess analgesic properties.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications. Inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (laryngitis, bronchitis, tracheitis); cholecystitis and biliary tract dyskinesia; decreased appetite, impaired digestion, especially in cases of secretory insufficiency of the gastrointestinal tract; enterocolitis accompanied by constipation and flatulence; increased nervous excitability.

Contraindications. Increased gastrointestinal secretion, individual sensitivity to biologically active substances contained in the medicinal product.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions. Unknown.

Special precautions.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving vehicles or operating machinery. Does not affect.

Method of Administration and Dosage

Place 2 tablespoons of the herb into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze out the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. Adults should take the warm infusion in a dose of ⅓ cup three times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals. Children aged 1–3 years – 1 teaspoon, 3–5 years – 1 dessert spoon, 5–7 years – 1 tablespoon, 7–12 years – 2 tablespoons, 12–14 years – ¼ cup, and those aged 14 years and older – ⅓ cup, three times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals.

Place 2 filter bags into a glass or enameled container, pour 100 ml of boiling water, cover and let steep for 15 minutes. Adults should take 100 ml of the warm preparation three times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals. Children aged 1–3 years – 2 teaspoons, 3–5 years – 2 dessert spoons, 5–7 years – 2 tablespoons, 7–12 years – 60 ml, 12–14 years – 100 ml, three times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals.

The prepared aqueous extract should be stored in the refrigerator (at 2–8 °C) for no more than 2 days.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children. Not recommended for children under 1 year of age. The dosage for children aged 1 year and older should be determined by a physician.

Overdose. No cases of overdose have been reported.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions (hyperemia, rash, itching, and skin swelling) are possible in case of individual hypersensitivity to the drug. If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the drug and consult a physician.

Shelf life. 2 years. Do not use after the expiry date.

Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging, protected from light, in a place inaccessible to children, at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.

Packaging. 50 g or 75 g in cartons with an inner pouch; 1.5 g in filter bags, pack of 20.
