I N S T R U C T I O N for medical use of the medicinal product NETTLE LEAVES (URTICAE FOLIA)
Composition:
Active substance: nettle leaves.
Pharmaceutical form. Leaves.
Main physico-chemical properties: fragments of leaves of various shapes. Color dark green, dark greyish-green, brownish-green, green.
Pharmacotherapeutic group. Vitamin K and other hemostatics. ATC code B02B X.
Pharmacological Properties.
Pharmacodynamics.
The biologically active substances of the drug exert hemostatic, diuretic, general tonic, anti-inflammatory, and vasoconstrictive effects; promote an increase in hemoglobin levels and erythrocyte count; normalize blood composition; reduce blood glucose levels; support regeneration of gastrointestinal mucosa; and normalize lipid metabolism.
Clinical characteristics.
Indications.
Pulmonary, intestinal, uterine, hemorrhoidal, and other bleedings; anemias of various etiologies, gastrointestinal tract diseases (gastritis, colitis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum).
Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity to biologically active components of the drug. Increased blood coagulation; bleedings caused by cysts, polyps, and other tumors of the uterus and its appendages; arterial hypertension.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions. Unknown.
Special precautions for use.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contraindicated during pregnancy. Enhances lactation in breastfeeding women.
Ability to influence reaction rate when driving or operating machinery. Has no effect.
Method of administration and dosage.
Place 2 dessert spoons of leaves into an enameled container, pour 200 mL of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 mL with boiled water. Take warm, 2–3 times daily, 30 minutes before meals: for adults and children aged 12 years and older – ¼–½ cup, for children aged 5–7 years – 1 tablespoon, for children aged 7–12 years – 2 tablespoons. Shake the infusion before use.
Place 2 filter bags into a glass or enameled container, pour 200 mL of boiling water, cover and let steep for 15 minutes. Take warm, 2–3 times daily, 30 minutes before meals: for adults and children aged 12 years and older – ½–1 cup, for children aged 5–7 years – 2 tablespoons, for children aged 7–12 years – ¼ cup.
Store the prepared infusion at 8–15 °C for no more than 2 days.
The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.
Children. The drug is intended for use in children aged 5 years and older.
Overdose. No reports available.
Side effects.
Allergic reactions are possible (including hyperemia, rash, itching, skin swelling). Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach discomfort. If side effects occur, discontinue use of the medication and consult a doctor.
Shelf life. 2 years.
Do not use after the expiry date stated on the package.
Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging, in a place inaccessible to children, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C.
Packaging. 30 g, 50 g in cartons with an inner pouch; 1.5 g in filter bags № 20 in a carton or in a carton with an inner pouch.
