INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT SHEPHERD'S PURSE HERB (HERBABURSAE PASTORIS)

Composition:

Active substance: Shepherd's purse herb (Herba Bursae pastoris);

One pack contains 40 g, or 50 g, or 75 g of shepherd's purse herb (Herba Bursae pastoris).

Dosage form. Herb.

Main physico-chemical properties:

Powdered raw material: fragments of leaves, stems and inflorescences of various shapes, individual flowers and fruits passing through a sieve with 7 mm diameter openings. Color of stems, leaves and fruits is green, flowers are whitish. Odor is weak. Taste is bitter.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Drugs stimulating the tone and contractile activity of the myometrium. ATC Code G02A X.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

Biologically active substances of the plant exhibit hemostatic, astringent, anti-inflammatory, hypotensive, diuretic, and choleretic effects; enhance contractile activity of the uterine smooth musculature, stimulate gastric motility, and accelerate intestinal peristalsis.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Uterine atony, uterine bleeding (as part of complex therapy).

Contraindications.

Increased blood coagulation, thromboembolism (in medical history). Hypersensitivity to the active substances of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction. Unknown.

Special precautions for use.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Contraindicated (increases uterine tone).

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery.

Method of Administration and Dosage.

Place 2 tablespoons of the herb into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue, and add the expressed liquid to the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. Take warm, 1 tablespoon 4–5 times daily after meals.

Store the prepared infusion in a cool place for no more than 2 days.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

In case of hypersensitivity to the drug, allergic reactions are possible (including hyperemia, rash, itching, and skin swelling). With prolonged use – decreased arterial pressure, hypercoagulation.
