INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT CHEST HERB Mixture № 2 (SPECIES PECTORALES № 2)
Composition:
Active substances: coltsfoot leaf (Farfarae folia); greater plantain leaf (Plantaginis majoris folium); licorice root (Liquiritiae radix).
1 g of the mixture contains: coltsfoot leaf (Farfarae folia) 400 mg; greater plantain leaf (Plantaginis majoris folium) 300 mg; licorice root (Liquiritiae radix) 300 mg.
Pharmaceutical form. Herbal mixture.
Main physico-chemical properties:
Crude material, powdered: a yellowish-green mixture of fragments of coltsfoot leaves, plantain leaves, and licorice root, comminuted into particles about 5 mm in size. Odorless; the taste of aqueous extract is unpleasantly sweet and slightly mucilaginous.
Coarse powder: a yellowish-green mixture of fragments of coltsfoot leaves, plantain leaves, and licorice root, comminuted into particles about 2 mm in size. Odorless; the taste of aqueous extract is unpleasantly sweet and slightly mucilaginous.
Pharmacotherapeutic group. Medicinal products used for cough and colds. Expectorant agent. ATC code: R05C A10.
Pharmacological Properties.
Pharmacodynamics.
The biologically active substances of the herbal mixture exert expectorant, anti-inflammatory, and demulcent effects, soothe cough, enhance the functional activity of the respiratory epithelium, promote liquefaction and elimination of sputum, and reduce coughing.
Pharmacokinetics. Not studied.
Clinical characteristics.
Indications.
Inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis) – as part of complex therapy.
Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity to biologically active substances of the drug. Liver cirrhosis, chronic renal insufficiency, diabetes mellitus, hypokalemia, arterial hypertension, organic heart lesions, obesity.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions. Unknown.
Special precautions for use.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Not recommended.
Ability to affect reaction speed when driving vehicles or operating machinery. Not established.
Dosage and Administration.
Place 1 tablespoon of the herbal mixture into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Allow to cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then strain and press the residue, adding the expressed liquid to the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. Take warm, 2–3 times daily after meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – 1/2 cup; for children aged 12–14 years – 1/4 cup; for children aged 7–12 years – 2 tablespoons; for children aged 3–7 years – 1 tablespoon.
Place 2 filter bags into a glass or enameled container, pour 200 ml of boiling water, cover and steep for 15 minutes. Take the infusion warm, 2–3 times daily after meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – 1 cup; for children aged 12–14 years – 1/2 cup; for children aged 7–12 years – 1/4 cup; for children aged 3–7 years – 2 tablespoons.
The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.
Store the prepared infusion in a cool place for no more than 2 days.
