INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT GLUCOSE (GLUCOSE)
Composition:
Active substance: 1 tablet contains glucose monohydrate 1 g;
Excipients: potato starch, talc, calcium stearate, stearic acid.
Pharmaceutical form. Tablets.
Main physicochemical properties: round-shaped tablets with a flat surface and bevelled edges, marked with a line, white in colour.
Pharmacotherapeutic group. Agents affecting the digestive system and metabolic processes. ATC code A16AX.
Pharmacological Properties.
Pharmacodynamics.
Glucose participates in energy and carbohydrate metabolism, helps replenish energy expenditure, improves the liver's detoxifying function, enhances myocardial contractile activity, and promotes diuresis.
Pharmacokinetics.
The drug is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and distributed via the bloodstream to all organs and tissues; its metabolites are excreted in urine.
Clinical characteristics.
Indications.
Hypoglycemia. Replenishment of easily absorbable carbohydrates during physical and mental exertion.
Contraindications.
Diabetes mellitus and various conditions accompanied by hyperglycemia. Hypersensitivity to the components of the medicinal product.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.
Interaction is unknown.
Special precautions for use.
The medicinal product is not recommended for patients with impaired glucose tolerance.
When high doses of the medicinal product are used for prolonged periods, monitoring of blood glucose levels is required.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
The medicinal product can be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The dosage and duration of treatment should be strictly in accordance with the physician's recommendations.
Ability to influence the reaction rate while driving or operating machinery.
The medicinal product does not affect the reaction rate when driving or operating machinery.
Dosage and Administration.
For adults and children aged 3 years and older: take orally ½–1 tablet (0.5–1 g) per day.
Dosage and duration of treatment depend on the nature and course of the disease, as well as on treatment efficacy.
Children.
There are no data regarding the safety and efficacy of using the medicinal product in children under 3 years of age; therefore, this medicinal form should not be administered to such patients.
Overdose.
Symptoms: when a large amount of the drug is taken at once, gastrointestinal disturbances occur (nausea, abdominal distension, diarrhea).
Treatment: discontinue the drug. Symptomatic therapy.
Side effects.
Allergic reactions are possible in individuals with hypersensitivity.
Shelf life. 4 years.
Storage conditions.
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
Keep out of reach of children.
