INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT PUMPKIN OIL

Composition:

Active substance: 1 vial contains 100 ml of pumpkin oil (Cucurbitae oleum).

Pharmaceutical form. Oil.

Main physico-chemical properties: oily liquid of light yellow to greenish-brown color with a specific odor. Formation of a sediment is permitted, which dissolves upon heating to 40 °C.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Hypolipidemic agents. ATC code C10AX.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The drug contains biologically valuable natural pumpkin oil without impurities. Pumpkin seed oil contains sterols, squalene, unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E, coenzyme Q, selenium, and zinc, which are used in hyperlipidemia.

Reduces serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Pharmacokinetics. Not studied.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications. As part of combination therapy for hyperlipidemia.

Contraindications.

Concomitant use with antacids. Hypersensitivity to the drug, cholelithiasis, pancreatitis.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

Antacids, H2-histamine receptor blockers, proton pump inhibitors, and bismuth-containing preparations reduce the absorption of pumpkin oil and, consequently, the drug's efficacy. When using any other medicinal products concomitantly, inform your physician.

Special precautions for use.

The preparation must be shaken before use.

The drug should be used with caution in patients prone to allergic reactions.

The drug is not recommended for patients with an acute phase of peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum, gastritis, esophagitis, duodenitis, colitis, and other diseases of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract in the stage of exacerbation.

Due to its moderate antithrombotic effect, the drug should be used with caution in patients with hemophilia or other forms of hemorrhagic diathesis, as well as in patients taking anticoagulants. During treatment with this drug, laboratory monitoring of blood parameters should be performed at regular intervals (usually every 2–3 months) in such patients.

It is recommended to discontinue the drug at least 4 days before surgery or any other surgical intervention.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The safety and efficacy of Pumpkin oil during pregnancy and breastfeeding are unknown; therefore, the drug should be prescribed only when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant.

Ability to influence reaction rate while driving or operating machinery.

Dosage and Administration.

The medication is taken orally by adults. Shake well before use. For hyperlipidemia: 5 ml twice daily for 2 months, then reduced to 2.5 ml twice daily. The treatment course lasts 6 months.

Children. Safety and efficacy of the medication in children are unknown; therefore, the medication should not be administered to children.

Overdose.

Possible symptoms: diarrhea, lethargy. In such cases, discontinue the medication and consult a physician.

Treatment is symptomatic.

Side effects.

With prolonged use, rare loose stools and allergic reactions are possible. If any adverse events occur, consult a physician immediately!

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 ˚С. Keep out of reach of children.
