INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT VIOLET HERB (HERBAVIOLAE)

Composition:

Active substance: violet herb (Herba Violae);

1 pack contains 50 g of violet herb (Herba Violae); 1 filter bag contains 1.5 g of violet herb (Herba Violae).

Dosage form. Herb.

Main physico-chemical properties:

Ground material: fragments of stems (green or light green), leaves (green), and flowers (blue, violet, and light yellow) of various shapes, passing through a sieve with 7 mm diameter apertures. Weak odor. Sweetish taste with a sensation of mucilaginousness.

Coarse powder: fragments of stems (green or light green), leaves (green), and flowers (blue, violet, and light yellow) of various shapes, passing through a sieve with 2 mm diameter apertures. Weak odor. Sweetish taste with a sensation of mucilaginousness.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Preparations used in cough and colds. ATC code R05C A.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The biologically active substances of the drug exert antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, bronchodilating, expectorant, mild diuretic, choleretic, and spasmolytic effects.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Diseases of the upper respiratory tract accompanied by cough with difficult expectoration of sputum (acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, pertussis), inflammatory diseases of kidneys and bladder, urolithiasis – as part of complex therapy.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to biologically active substances of the drug or to salicylates. Glomerulonephritis, hepatitis.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions. Unknown.

Usage features.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Under a physician's prescription, if the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery. Does not affect.

Method of Administration and Dosage

Place 1 tablespoon of the herb into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then strain and squeeze the residue into the strained infusion. Take warm, 3–4 times daily after meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – ⅓–½ cup; for children aged 12–14 years – ⅓ cup; aged 7–12 years – 2 tablespoons; aged 3–7 years – 1 tablespoon. Shake the infusion before use.

Place 2 filter bags into a glass or enameled container, pour 200 ml of boiling water, cover, and steep for 15 minutes. Take warm, 3–4 times daily after meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – ½–1 cup; for children aged 12–14 years – ½ cup; aged 7–12 years – ⅓ cup; aged 3–7 years – 2 tablespoons.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children.

The drug should be used in children aged 3 years and older only as prescribed by a doctor.

Overdose.

Overdose or prolonged use of the drug may sometimes lead to nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and skin allergic rashes.

Side effects.

In case of hypersensitivity to the drug, allergic reactions may occur, including skin rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and allergic skin eruptions.

If side effects occur, discontinue use of the drug and consult a physician.

Shelf life. 3 years.

Storage conditions.

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, in a place inaccessible to children. Prepared infusion should be stored in a cool place for no more than 2 days.
