INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT FENNEL FRUITS (FOENICULIFRUCTUS)

Composition:

Active substance: fennel fruits (Foeniculifructus);

One package contains 50 g of fennel fruits (Foeniculifructus).

Pharmaceutical form. Fruits.

Main physicochemical characteristics: fruits – schizocarps, which split into two half-fruits (mericarps). The outer side of the mericarp is convex, the inner side is flat. Each mericarp has five very prominent longitudinal ridges. Color is greenish-brown.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Agents used for functional gastrointestinal disorders. ATC code A03A X.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

Biologically active substances of the fruits exert secretolytic, spasmolytic, carminative, antimicrobial, and mild diuretic effects.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications. Intestinal spasms, flatulence, inflammatory respiratory diseases (bronchitis, tracheitis) – as part of complex therapy.

Contraindications. Hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions. Unknown.

Usage characteristics.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contraindicated during pregnancy. Enhances lactation during breastfeeding.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery. No effect.

Method of Administration and Dosage

Place 1 tablespoon of the fruits in an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then strain, squeezing the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water.

Administer warm, 3–4 times daily:

• Adults and children aged 14 years and older: ⅓ cup
• Children aged 10–14 years: ¼ cup
• Children aged 7–10 years: 2 tablespoons
• Children aged 3–7 years: 1 dessert spoon
• Children aged 6 months to 3 years: 1 teaspoon

Shake the infusion well before use.

Store the prepared infusion at 8–15°C for no more than 2 days.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children. The drug may be used in children aged 6 months and older.

Overdose. No reports available.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions are possible.

Shelf life. 3 years.

Do not use the medication after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, in a place inaccessible to children.

Packaging. 50 g in cartons with an inner packet.

Availability. Over-the-counter (without prescription).
