INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT ECTERICIDâ (ECTERICID)

Composition:

Active substances: oxidation products of fish oil (with a content of total carbonyl compounds - not less than 0.0034 g-eq);

Excipients: sodium chloride, purified water.

Pharmaceutical form. Solution for external use.

Main physicochemical properties: clear yellow liquid with a specific odor. During storage, formation of a light brown precipitate is permissible, which readily disperses upon shaking.

Pharmacodynamics.

The medicinal product has antibacterial activity against pyogenic microflora: Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli, Proteus, and Staphylococcus species. The drug is low-toxic.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Treatment of postoperative and traumatic wounds complicated by purulent infection; slowly granulating and long-unhealing wounds; furuncles; carbuncles; sinus forms of osteomyelitis; burns; trophic ulcers with suppuration.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

When using with other medicinal products, consult a physician.

Special precautions.

Avoid contact of the medication with the eyes.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

There is no experience with the use of the medication in this category of patients.

Administration and Dosage

Apply Ectericid® topically in undiluted form as monotherapy or in combination with other agents.

Treatment of infected wounds should be performed by irrigating them with Ectericid® followed by application of gauze pads moistened with the agent. Irrigate twice daily until purulent discharge ceases, then continue irrigation and dressing changes once every 3–4 days until complete wound healing.

For treatment of infected burns using the open method, use Ectericid® with novocaine: add 10 ml of 0.5% novocaine solution to 50 ml of the preparation. Irrigate the wound surface every 6–8 hours. For the closed method, apply dressings thoroughly moistened with the agent twice daily at 6–8 hour intervals to the burned surface. Moisten the lower layer of the dressing with Ectericid® without removing it. Perform these procedures until complete disappearance of pus.

In osteomyelitis, after sequestrectomy (sequestrotomy), loosely pack the wound with gauze pads thoroughly moistened with Ectericid®. Change dressings every 3–4 days.

Treatment of carbuncles and furuncles after incision and evacuation of pus should be carried out by applying gauze pads soaked with the agent to the wound. Perform dressing changes daily for the first 2–3 days, then every 2–3 days thereafter.

Children

There is no experience with use of the medicinal product in children.

Side effects.

Immune system side effects: allergic reactions are possible in isolated cases, including local reactions: swelling, hyperemia, itching, skin rash; Quincke's edema.
