INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT BLACK ELDERFLOWERS (SAMBUCI NIGRA FLORES)

Composition:

Active substance: black elderflowers (Sambuci nigrae flores);

One pack contains 40 g of black elderflowers (Sambuci nigrae flores);

One pack contains 50 g of black elderflowers (Sambuci nigrae flores);

One filter bag contains 1.5 g of black elderflowers (Sambuci nigrae flores).

Pharmaceutical form. Flowers.

Main physico-chemical characteristics: whole raw material: individual flowers and buds on short, smooth pedicels or without them, with admixture of small twigs, inflorescences, and leaves. Color is yellowish;

coarse powder: a mixture of crushed fragments of flowers and buds with admixture of pedicels, twigs, and leaves of various shapes. Color is yellowish with brownish specks.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Preparations used for cough and colds. ATC code R05X.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The biologically active substances of the drug exert diaphoretic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, diuretic, and mild expectorant effects.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications. Influenza, inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (bronchitis, tracheitis, laryngitis), kidneys and urinary bladder – as part of complex therapy.

Contraindications. Hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction. Unknown.

Special precautions for use.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Only under a physician's supervision when the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery. Has no effect.

Method of administration and dosage.

Place 1.5 tablespoons of flowers into an enameled container, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then strain and squeeze the residue, adding the expressed liquid to the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. For adults and children aged 16 years and older, take warm, ½ cup twice daily or 2 tablespoons 5–6 times daily after meals. For children aged 3–7 years: 1 tablespoon twice daily after meals; for children aged 7–12 years: 2 tablespoons twice daily after meals; for children aged 12–16 years: ⅓ cup twice daily after meals. Shake the infusion before use.

Place 1 filter bag into a glass or enameled container, pour 100 ml (½ cup) of boiling water, cover and let steep for 15 minutes. For adults and children aged 16 years and older: take warm, ½ cup three times daily after meals. For children aged 3–7 years: 2 dessert spoons three times daily after meals; for children aged 7–12 years: 2 tablespoons three times daily after meals; for children aged 12–16 years: ⅓ cup three times daily after meals.

Store the prepared infusion at 8–15°C for no more than 2 days.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children. The product should be used in children aged 3 years and older only as prescribed by a physician.

**Overdose. **No cases reported.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions (including hyperemia, rash, itching, skin swelling). If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the product and consult a doctor.

Shelf life. 2 years.

Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 30°C, in a place inaccessible to children.

Packaging. 40 g or 50 g in cartons with inner pouch,

1.5 g in filter bags No. 20 in a carton or in a carton with inner pouch.
