INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT BROMHO VEDA PLUS (BRONCHO VEDAPLUS)

Composition:

Active substances: 5 ml of syrup contains dry herbal extracts (extracting agent – water): Adhatoda Vasica (Adhatoda Vasika) (12:1) 375 mg; Holy Basil (Ocimum Sanctum) (5:1) 75 mg; Bibhitaki (Terminalia Belerica) (3:1) 50 mg; Indian Bay Leaf (Cinnamomum Tamala) (10:1) 5 mg; Sarcostemma Brevestigma (Sarcostemma Brevestigma) (10:1) 25 mg; Myrica Nagi (Myrica Nagi) (10:1) 25 mg; Giant Calotropis (Calotropis Gigantea) (15:1) 25 mg; Ginger (Zingiber Officinale) (6:1) 25 mg; Black Pepper (Piper Nigrum) (6:1) 12.5 mg; Chinese Cinnamon (Cinnamon Cassia) (10:1) 2.5 mg; Clove Myrtle (Syzygium Aromaticum) (3:1) 2.5 mg; Nutmeg (Myristica Fragrans) (6:1) 2.5 mg; Pistacia Integerrima (Pistacia Integerrima) (4:1) 15 mg; Long Pepper (Piper Longum) (4:1) 15 mg;

Excipients: sucrose, glucose solution, sodium benzoate (E 211), sodium methylparahydroxybenzoate (E 219), sodium propylparahydroxybenzoate (E 217), ginger oil, clove oil, taj oil, menthol, cooling peppermint flavor, cardamom flavor, polysorbate 80, purified water.

Pharmaceutical form. Syrup.

Main physicochemical properties: opaque dark brown liquid containing sediment, with a pleasant taste and aroma.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Combined preparations used for cough and colds. ATC code R05X.

Pharmacological Properties

Broncho Veda Plus is a herbal remedy in syrup form that acts against cough (productive, non-productive, and obstructive), rhinitis, and fever. It facilitates expectoration and breathing. The pharmacological effect is provided by the components of the preparation, which combine several mechanisms of action. The active ingredients contained in the syrup exert the following effects:

• Adhatoda Vasica – its main active component is essential oil, which promotes improved expectoration, acts as a spasmolytic agent, and has a soothing effect;
• Ocimum Sanctum (Holy Basil) – possesses anti-catarrhal and anti-infective properties;
• Terminalia Belerica, Pistacia Integerrima (Sumach) – promote expectoration, liquefy mucus, tone the respiratory system, and have diaphoretic and anti-inflammatory effects (the latter also improves digestion);
• Cinnamomum Tamala (Cassia Cinnamon), Sarcostemma Brevestigma – have diaphoretic properties, enhance metabolism, and help prevent recurrent disease episodes;
• Myrica Nagi (Bayberry) – exerts a stimulating effect on the respiratory organs;
• Calotropis Gigantea – enhances secretion, relaxes intestinal smooth musculature, and alleviates all types of pain and irritation, thereby relieving pain symptoms associated with cough;
• Zingiber Officinale (Ginger), Piper Nigrum (Black Pepper) – reduce irritation and exert diaphoretic and anti-inflammatory effects (the latter also improves digestion);
• Cinnamomum Cassia (Chinese Cinnamon), Piper Longum (Long Pepper), Syzygium Aromaticum (Clove Myrtle) – act as carminatives, antispasmodics, and antiseptics, aid digestion, and help reduce the amount of pathogenic intestinal bacterial flora;
• Myristica Fragrans (Nutmeg) – has antipyretic properties.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications. Symptomatic treatment of all types of cough (productive, non-productive) caused by infections of the upper respiratory tract, bronchitis, whooping cough; in pertussis and post-influenza cough. As an adjunctive agent – in allergic rhinitis, rhinitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis, and angina.

Contraindications. Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug; cough of unknown etiology; cough associated with eosinophilia; severe inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, and/or sucrose-isomaltase deficiency.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction. Broncho Veda Plus can be used concomitantly with antibiotics and other chemotherapeutic agents, antipyretics, and vitamins. Do not use with ethanol-containing and narcotic medicinal products.

Special precautions for use.

Broncho Veda Plus contains sucrose, which should be taken into account for patients with diabetes mellitus and for individuals on a low-calorie diet.

This medicinal product contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium per dose, i.e. it is practically sodium-free.

The medicinal product contains 1.5 g of glucose and 3.0 g of sucrose per 10 ml of the preparation. Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus. If you have known intolerance to certain sugars, consult your doctor before taking this medicinal product. May be harmful to teeth.

Do not use during treatment with narcotic medicinal products. Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with Broncho Veda Plus.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The safety of using the drug during pregnancy or breastfeeding has not been studied.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery. There is no information available on the effect on reaction speed when driving or operating machinery.

Method of Administration and Dosage

Children aged 6 to 14 years: dilute 2.5 ml of syrup in ¼ glass of warm water, take four times daily.
Adults and adolescents aged 14 years and older: dilute 5–10 ml of syrup in ½ glass of warm water, take four times daily.
The duration of treatment is usually up to 3 weeks.

Children. Contraindicated in children under 6 years of age.

Overdose. Symptoms: epigastric discomfort, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, nervous excitement. Exacerbation of adverse reactions is possible.
Treatment: gastric lavage; symptomatic therapy.

Side effects.

In patients with individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, allergic reactions are possible, including skin rashes, itching, hyperemia, urticaria, allergic dermatitis, bronchospasm. Gastrointestinal disorders: nausea, diarrhea, dyspepsia. The drug contains sodium methylparahydroxybenzoate (E 219) and sodium propylparahydroxybenzoate (E 217), which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).

Shelf life. 3 years.

Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Keep out of reach of children.

Packaging. 100 ml in bottles; 1 bottle with a measuring cap in a cardboard box.

Availability. Over-the-counter.
