1. What compound tormentil ointment is and what it is used for
Compound tormentil ointment is a medicine with astringent, drying and anti-inflammatory effects on the skin.
Compound tormentil ointment is indicated for local treatment of:
- minor skin injuries such as superficial abrasions, scratches.
2. Important information before using the medicinal product Alti-Sir Complex Hellebore Ointment
When not to use Alti-Sir Complex Hellebore Ointment
- in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances or any of the excipients
- on open wounds or significantly damaged skin
- in children under 12 years of age
When to exercise special caution when using Alti-Sir Complex Hellebore Ointment
Due to its dark colour, the ointment may stain clothing. Avoid contact with eyes and do not apply on mucous membranes.
Children and adolescents
Due to lack of data, use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended.
Use with other medicines
Do not apply locally together with other medicinal products.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
There are no known contraindications with recommended use. Consult a physician before use.
Driving and operating machinery
The medicinal product does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.
Important information about some of the excipients of Alti-Sir Complex Hellebore Ointment
Due to the presence of lanolin, this medicinal product may cause localised skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
3. How to use Alti-Sir Ointment Compound
Alti-Sir Ointment Compound should always be used according to the instructions provided in this leaflet.
If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
This medicine is intended for topical use only.
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age
Apply a thin layer of ointment 2–3 times daily with hands onto the affected skin area.
Hands should be thoroughly washed before and after application.
Use of more than the recommended dose of Alti-Sir Ointment Compound
In case of application of a larger than recommended dose or accidental oral ingestion,
consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
Missed dose of Alti-Sir Ointment Compound
Continue using the medicine as prescribed without increasing the next dose.
Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
Stopping treatment with the medicine
If you have any further doubts regarding the use of this medicine, consult your
doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible adverse reactions
Like any medicine, Compound Primrose Ointment may cause adverse reactions, although not in all users.
Local redness, burning, or skin irritation may occasionally occur. In such a case, discontinue use of the ointment.
If any of the adverse reactions worsen or if any adverse reactions not listed in this leaflet occur, inform your doctor or pharmacist.
5. How to store Alti-Sir Ointment Compound
Keep Alti-Sir Ointment Compound out of the reach and sight of children.
Store in tightly closed containers, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
Do not use Alti-Sir Ointment Compound after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
Medicines must not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help protect the environment.
6. Other information
What Alti-Sir contains
The active substances in Alti-Sir are liquid extract of tormentil root (Tormentillae extractum fluidum) (1:1-2, extraction solvent: ethanol 40%), ichthammol (Ichthammolum), and zinc oxide (Zinci oxidum).
Each 1 g of ointment contains 30 mg of liquid extract of tormentil root, 20 mg of ichthammol, and 200 mg of zinc oxide.
The other ingredients are lanolin and yellow petroleum jelly.
What Alti-Sir looks like and contents of the pack
Alti-Sir is a homogeneous, light brown ointment with a characteristic odour.
The medicine is packed in an aluminium tube with a polyethylene cap.
