1. What VICI is and what it is used for

VICI contains the active substance acidum ascorbicum, also known as vitamin C. It belongs to the group of vitamins essential for humans. This medicine is indicated for the treatment and prevention of vitamin C deficiency states. This may occur, for example, during pregnancy, breastfeeding, in case of joint problems (rheumatic conditions), or in case of cold-related illnesses. This medicine may be used in case of capillary fragility (which may lead to bleeding) and as an adjunct in the treatment of mouth inflammations (gingivitis and stomatitis).

2. What you should know before using VICI

Do not use VICI

  • if you are allergic to ascorbic acid or to any of the other components of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before using VICI.
If you have elevated blood glucose levels (diabetes), taking this medicine may alter glucose measurement in urine (glycosuria); therefore, discontinue vitamin C use several days before undergoing this type of test.
If you suffer from kidney stones (renal calculi due to accumulation of oxalic acid and urates), therapy with doses greatly exceeding the daily requirement should be carried out with caution.

Other medicines and VICI
Inform your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse if you are currently taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.
Vitamin C may enhance intestinal absorption of iron.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, suspect you may be pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before using this medicine.

Driving and operating machinery
VICI does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery.

VICI contains sodium
This medicine contains 65 mg (2.8 mmol) of sodium per vial. This should be taken into account in patients with impaired renal function or those following a low-sodium diet.

VICI contains sodium metabisulfite
Rarely, this may cause severe hypersensitivity reactions and bronchospasm.

3. How to use VICI

Use this medicine exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts,
consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is 1 vial per day, administered intravenously or intramuscularly, according to the doctor's advice.
If you use more VICI than you should
In case of accidental ingestion/overdose of VICI, inform your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital.
If you have any doubts about the use of this medicine, consult your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody will get them.
The following side effects may occur:

  • headache (cephalalgia) and intestinal disturbances, if the medicine is administered at high doses;
  • fatigue (asthenia) and dizziness, if the medicine is administered intravenously too quickly.

5. How to store VICI

Keep this medicine out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack after “EXP.”.
Store protected from light.
Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of
medicines you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.

6. Package contents and other information

What VICI injectable solution contains

  • The active substance is ascorbic acid. Each 5 ml vial contains 500 mg of ascorbic acid (vitamin C).
  • The other components are: sodium bicarbonate, sodium metabisulfite, and water for injections.
