1. What NEOMERCUROCROMO is and what it is used for

NEOMERCUROCROMO is a product containing eosin, chloroxylenol, and propylene glycol, used for local antiseptic treatment of superficial wounds, abrasions, mild and limited superficial burns (first-degree burns), and mild pressure ulcers (i.e. those affecting only the most superficial layer of the skin).
Consult a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a few days.

2. What you need to know before using NEOMERCUROCROMO

Do not use NEOMERCUROCROMO

  • if you are allergic to the active substances or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Neomercurocromo.

  • Do not use for prolonged treatments; if after a short period of treatment no noticeable improvement occurs, consult your doctor. Use, especially if prolonged, of topical (local) products may lead to sensitization phenomena (excessive reaction of the body to foreign substances it has come into contact with). In such cases, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor to start appropriate therapy.
  • This product is for external use only.
  • Accidental ingestion or inhalation of some disinfectants can have serious, sometimes fatal, consequences. In case of accidental ingestion, consult a doctor immediately.
  • Avoid contact with eyes. Neomercurocromo may leave stains on clothing that are difficult to remove.

Other medicines and NEOMERCUROCROMO
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.
Avoid simultaneous use of other disinfectants and detergents.

NEOMERCUROCROMO with food, drinks and alcohol
No interactions are known.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, are planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
This medicine can be used during pregnancy. If you have any doubts, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using the medicine.

Driving and using machines
No interference expected.

The NEOMERCUROCROMO container contains latex rubber
The container of this medicine contains latex rubber. It may cause severe allergic reactions.

3. How to use NEOMERCUROCROMO

Use this medicine exactly as stated in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Apply 1–2 drops of the cutaneous solution to the affected area once or twice daily; if necessary, cover with a suitable sterile dry dressing.
Do not exceed the recommended dose.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them.
In some cases, burning or irritation (intolerance) may occur, which is otherwise harmless and does not require treatment adjustment. With repeated applications or following occlusive bandaging that prevents transpiration of the treated area, skin inflammation (eczematous reactions) may occur. Use of this medicine may cause sensitivity to sunlight and UV rays (photosensitization).
Following the instructions contained in this leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.

5. How to store NEOMERCUROCROMO

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
This medicine does not require any special storage conditions. Keep the bottle tightly closed and away from heat sources.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging after “Expiry”.
The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not dispose of any medicine via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer in use. This will help protect the environment.

6. Contents of the pack and other information

What NEOMERCUROCROMO contains

  • The active substances in 100 ml of cutaneous solution are: Eosin 2.0 g; Chloroxylenol 0.3 g; Propylene glycol 30.0 g.
  • The other components are: 95° ethanol; edetate sodium; acetic acid; purified water.

Description of the appearance of NEOMERCUROCROMO and the contents of the pack
NEOMERCUROCROMO is a cutaneous solution supplied in a 50 ml glass bottle with a dropper.
The medicine is also available in a pack containing 2 plastic dropper bottles of 10 ml each with nozzle caps.
