1. What Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic is and what it is used for
Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic is an antacid medicine containing the active substances magnesium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate.
Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic is used for the treatment of disorders caused by excessive acidity in the upper part of the digestive tract (mouth, oesophagus, stomach).
2. What you should know before taking Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic
Do not take Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic
- if you are allergic to magnesium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- if you have kidney failure;
- if you are taking tetracyclines (antibiotics);
- if you have taken or will take other medicines within 1–2 hours of taking Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic;
- if the patient is a child.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your pharmacist before taking Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic.
Exercise particular caution:
- if you have severe kidney failure, because long-term use of Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic may increase magnesium levels in the blood and cause brain disorders or worsen bone fragility following dialysis (dialysis-related osteomalacia);
Consult your doctor before taking this medicine:
- if your kidney function is impaired or has been impaired in the past. Your doctor will periodically perform blood tests to monitor your magnesium and calcium levels.
Children
Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic is contraindicated in pediatric patients.
Other medicines and Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are currently using, have recently used, or might use any other
medicines.
Do not take other medicines 1–2 hours before or after taking Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic.
Do not take Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic with the following medicines:
- tetracyclines (antibiotics), because Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic may reduce their absorption and effectiveness;
- quinidine (used to treat heart arrhythmias), because its elimination rate from the body may be reduced.
Exercise particular caution when taking Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic with the following medicines:
- indomethacin (anti-inflammatory)
- phosphorus
- dexamethasone (used to reduce inflammation)
- digitalis preparations (heart medicines)
- iron salts
- nitrofurantoin (antibiotic)
- lincomycin (antibiotic)
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, suspect you may be pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding,
consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic should be taken only under the direct
supervision of a doctor.
Driving and operating machinery
Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery.
Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic contains sucrose
If your doctor has diagnosed you with an intolerance to certain sugars, contact him or her before taking this
medicine.
Sucrose may be harmful to teeth.
Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium per tablet, i.e.
essentially “sodium-free”.
3. How to take Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic
Take this medicine exactly as stated in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic tablets must be slowly dissolved in the mouth.
- The recommended dose is one tablet after meals and whenever you feel pain.
- If needed, take another tablet after a quarter of an hour.
- Take this medicine only for short periods of time.
- Do not exceed the recommended doses without first consulting your doctor.
Contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a short period of treatment, or if the symptoms recur repeatedly, or if you have noticed any recent changes in their characteristics.
If you take more Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic than you should
In case of accidental overdose of Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic, contact your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital.
If you forget to take Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic
Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
If you stop taking Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic
If you have any doubts about the use of this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them.
To date, no side effects caused by this medicine have been reported.
Following the instructions contained in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.

5. How to store Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic
This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine if you notice that the packaging is visibly damaged.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging after "Exp". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.
6. Package contents and other information
What Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic contains
- The active substances are magnesium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate. Each tablet contains 71.0 mg of magnesium carbonate, 64.2 mg of sodium bicarbonate and 525.0 mg of calcium carbonate.
- The other components are sodium saccharin, sucrose, maize starch, calcium stearate, peppermint essential oil.

Each pack of Magnesia Bisurata Aromatic contains 10, 40 or 80 tablets in blisters.
Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
