BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE AND METHYLCELLULOSE

which you can use to treat mild and transient disorders that are easily recognizable and resolvable without
requiring medical assistance.
It can therefore be purchased without a prescription, but must be used correctly to ensure
its effectiveness and minimize potential side effects.

Composition
100 ml of solution contains: Active substances: Benzalkonium Chloride 0.01 g, Methylcellulose 0.15 g. Excipients: Sodium Chloride; Potassium Chloride; Edetic Acid (Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid); water for injections.

Lacrimart is an eye drop solution presented in a 10 ml bottle.
What it is
Lacrimart is an ophthalmic disinfectant and lubricant for ocular use.

Why it is used
Disinfection of the ocular mucosa. Lubricant and moisturizer for the eye in cases of insufficient tear secretion (Dry Eye Syndrome).
When it must not be used
Hypersensitivity to the components or to other substances closely related from a chemical standpoint.
Due to the presence of Benzalkonium Chloride, do not use Lacrimart during the wearing of soft contact lenses, but only between periods of lens wear.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Lacrimart may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Which foods or medicines may affect the action of this medicine
If you are using other medicines, consult your Doctor or Pharmacist.
Important information
Lacrimart does not impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.
How to use this medicine
Caution: do not exceed the recommended dosage.
Instill 1–2 drops into the conjunctival sac 3–4 times daily. Keep the eye open and, by gently pressing the body of the bottle, instill one drop into the conjunctival sac. Prolonged use of topical products may lead to sensitization reactions; if this occurs, discontinue treatment and consult a Doctor to establish appropriate therapy.
What to do if you have taken an excessive dose
In case of accidental ingestion of Lacrimart, contact your Doctor immediately.
Undesirable effects
In some cases, intolerance (such as burning or irritation) may occur, although usually transient and without serious consequences, and does not require modification of treatment. Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of undesirable effects. These effects are generally transient. If they occur, it is advisable to consult your Doctor or Pharmacist. You should inform your Doctor or Pharmacist of any undesirable effect not described in this leaflet. Request the adverse reaction reporting form available at pharmacies (Model B).
Expiry and storage
The expiry date stated on the label refers to the product kept in its original, unopened packaging and stored correctly. The product must not be used more than 30 days after first opening the container.
Caution: do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
Keep the medicine out of the reach and sight of children.
It is important to keep both the packaging and the package leaflet for future reference.
