Why it is used
CORYFIN COUGH SUPPRESSANT is used as a cough suppressant.
When it must not be used
In patients with hypersensitivity (increased bronchial secretions) and reduced mucociliary function (i.e. reduced ability of the bronchial mucosa to clear secretions).
Hypersensitivity to the components or to other chemically related substances.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding (see: What to do during pregnancy and breastfeeding).
When it should only be used after consulting a doctor
- Children under 6 years of age (see: Important information)
- Patients with severe renal impairment (see: Important information)
What to do during pregnancy and breastfeeding
CORYFIN COUGH SUPPRESSANT must not be used during the first trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding. Its use should also be avoided if you suspect you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy.

Which medicines or foods can affect the medicine’s action
No interactions with other medicines are known. However, if you are taking other medicines, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Important information
In children under 6 years of age and in patients with severe renal impairment, CORYFIN COUGH SUPPRESSANT should only be used after consulting a doctor and evaluating the risk/benefit ratio in your individual case.
Since this product may cause drowsiness, particular caution should be exercised when driving vehicles or operating machinery requiring full attention.
How to use this medicine
Dosage
Syrup: Children from 6 months to 1 year: ¼ teaspoon, 3–4 times daily.
Children from 1 to 3 years: ½ teaspoon, 3–4 times daily.
Children from 3 to 13 years: 1 teaspoon, 3–4 times daily.
Adolescents over 13 years and adults: 2 teaspoons, 3–4 times daily.
One teaspoon (5 ml) corresponds to 15 mg of active ingredient.
Warning: Do not exceed the recommended doses without medical advice.
When and for how long
Warning: Use only for short treatment periods.
Consult your doctor if symptoms recur frequently or if you have noticed any recent changes in their characteristics.
What to do if you have taken an excessive dose of the medicine
In case of accidental ingestion of an excessive dose of CORYFIN COUGH SUPPRESSANT, contact your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital.
Undesired effects
Rarely reported are nausea and other mild gastrointestinal disturbances, fatigue and/or drowsiness, headache and dizziness. These adverse effects are generally transient. However, if they occur, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of adverse effects.
It is important to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any adverse effects not described in this leaflet.
Request and complete the adverse reaction reporting form available at pharmacies (Form B).
Expiry date and storage
Warning: Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
It is important to always have the medicine’s information available; therefore, keep both the carton and the package leaflet.
