1. What Alfa Dry Eye Eye Drops is and what it is used for

Alfa Dry Eye Eye Drops contain the active substance sodium hyaluronate, a lubricant for ophthalmic use, belonging to the category of artificial tears and other preparations.
Alfa Dry Eye Eye Drops are used as a lubricant and moisturizer for the eye in cases of tear deficiency (Dry Eye Syndrome).

2. What you need to know before using Alfa Dry Eye Eye Drops

Do not take Alfa Dry Eye Eye Drops if

  • you are allergic to sodium hyaluronate or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
  • you are allergic to other substances chemically closely related to hyaluronic acid.

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Alfa Dry Eye Eye Drops.
This product is for ophthalmic use only.
The use, especially if prolonged, of locally applied products may lead to sensitization reactions (development of allergy).
If eye drops are administered for therapeutic purposes, discontinue instillation of this product. It is advisable to avoid concomitant use of cleansing or disinfectant solutions.

Other medicines and Alfa Dry Eye Eye Drops
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.

Driving and using machines
Alfa Dry Eye Eye Drops do not affect the ability to drive or use machinery.

3. How to use Alfa Dry Eye Eye Drops

Use this medicine exactly as stated in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is 1 drop in the conjunctival sac three times daily, or as otherwise prescribed by a physician.

Instructions for use:

Open the container by twisting and pulling off the cap.
Instill one drop into the eye by gently pressing the body of the container.

Use only for short periods of treatment. Consult your doctor if the condition recurs or if you have noticed any recent changes in its characteristics.
If you use more Alfa Dry Eye Eye Drops than you should
Symptoms of overdose are not known; however, do not exceed the recommended doses without medical advice.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
In rare cases, a brief blurring of vision has been observed at the moment when the drops come into contact with the eye, due to the density of the solution. However, this disappears very quickly.
In rare instances, intolerance (such as burning or irritation) may occur, but this is usually without consequences and does not require any change in treatment.
Following the instructions contained in this leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
These side effects are generally transient. However, if they occur, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist.

5. How to store Alfa Dry Eye Eye Drops

It is important to know that the product does not contain preservatives: after administration, the vial
must be discarded even if only partially used.
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label after "Exp". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. This date applies to the product in its original packaging, correctly stored and unopened.
Do not dispose of any medicine via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.

6. Package contents and other information

What Collirio Alfa occhio secco contains

  • The active substance is sodium hyaluronate. 100 ml of eye drop solution contain 0.4 g of sodium hyaluronate.
  • The other components are: disodium phosphate; monosodium phosphate; sodium chloride; water for injections.

Collirio Alfa occhio secco is supplied as an eye drop solution.
Pack contents:
20 single-dose containers of 0.5 ml.
10 single-dose containers of 0.5 ml.
It is possible that not all pack sizes are marketed.
